Since its inception in 2017, NexTech Hawai'i has connected hundreds of youth across Hawai'i island to fun, high-impact STEM experiences and mentorship opportunities that promote exploration and discovery in STEM subjects and careers, and builds the confidence to lead and serve. Our programs are delivered free of charge. We rely on the generosity of many professional partnerships and community relationships to source volunteers and mentor support. Our extra-curricular camps and competitions are designed to inspire creative, collaborative, real-world problem-solving through STEM.

Professional Engineering Day is coming! East Hawai?i engineering?firms and NexTech Hawai?i celebrate National Professional Engineers Day with an opportunity for Hawai?i Island youth to meet and learn from local engineers on July 29 in Hilo. ? The day will allow local high school students to meet and learn from engineers in their field of interest. This mentoring event allows students to learn about a professional's career journey, get answers to questions about engineering, and appreciate the various local career opportunities. Participants will also enjoy a complimentary lunch with their mentors and a special presentation about careers in engineering. Slots are limited for this event. Applications are still being accepted at bit.ly/PEDAY2024.

Congratulations to the teams who participated in the NexTech Hawaii FishTank Design Competition! FishTank is a first-of-its-kind STEM+ program developed on Hawaii Island and inspired by the hit TV series “Shark Tank.” Each year, students in grades 6-12 take on the challenge of designing unique solutions to some of our island’s most complicated problems. This year’s theme was the Aloha+ Challenge and Hawaii’s Sustainability Development Goals. Teams compete for scholarships and opportunities to take their ideas to the next level. Finalists compete on Pitch Day and present their lightning pitches to a live audience. Our employees served as judges and were impressed with each team’s innovative solution and inspired by their commitment to help build a sustainable Hawaii. Learn more at nextechhawaii.org/fishtank.
