At The START Center for Cancer Care our mission is to deliver high-quality care for our patients, accelerate the development of new cancer treatments, and provide hope for those in need. Our team is led by more than 30 world-class oncologists practicing at thirteen locations across South Texas. The START Center also conducts the world’s largest Phase I clinical trials program for oncology with research facilities located in Texas, Michigan, Utah, and Spain where more than 40 promising new drugs are now being tested for the first time. By combining sophisticated treatment modalities with innovative Phase I clinical trial programs, we are leveraging today’s most advanced technology to help our patients in their fight against Cancer. Celebrating Victory Over Cancer In March 2023, Mark Strode officially reached remission from Stage IV Prostate Cancer and celebrated this milestone by Ringing the Bell at The START Center for Cancer Care. “I rang the bell and I had seen that, but man that was really cool to be in the office among all the other patients receiving therapy and ring that bell.” Mark’s journey is a testament to resilience, strength, and the incredible power of hope. His story below inspires us all to support those fighting their battles and to raise awareness about Prostate Cancer. I’m at a point where I’ve beaten it and I’m right back at doing what I need to do to support the team to continue to do their jobs and take care of this community, the same way that I needed it.” When Marc Strode, a senior leader with Methodist Healthcare, was diagnosed with stage IV prostate cancer at the age of 49, his baseline prostate-specific antigen (PSA) was 909, in the 99th percentile.
