What an honor it was to be a part of the unveiling of the Port of Lake Charles' new 180,000 square foot warehouse!

As part of Early Childhood Education month, the SWLA Alliance's Education & Workforce hosted a special meeting on Tuesday, February 11, with The Louisiana Policy Institute for Children And Louisiana Association of Business and Industry Early Childhood Business Roundtable. This meeting invited local elected officials and business leaders to learn more about the critical issues surrounding early childhood education that impact children and families in our region followed by a director-led tour of a high-quality early childhood education center. These centers provide quality early childhood education to children and support our local workforce and economy. As small businesses, these centers create jobs for the teachers and staff who work there and also allow the children’s parent(s) to reliably participate in the workforce. Michelle McInnis, Senior Vice President and Scott Walker, incoming President and CEO of the Southwest Louisiana Economic Development Alliance along with a delegation from Southwest Louisiana had the privilege of visiting the Office of the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Congressman Mike Johnson while in DC for Washington Mardi Gras. Alex Guillory, Petree Ronald, Haley Armand Tarasiewicz, Kristy Armand, Henry and Katie Guinn attended the meeting as part of the Southwest Delegation.
