Thank You Directors & Boards for the feature on "What Directors Are Thinking". Thought leadership is one of the three core services of The Sophia Consulting Firm and it is an honor for me to share my thoughts on Why It's Time to Demand Boardroom Diversity. Diversity on boards remains problematic as companies continue to downsize their DEI plans. The implication for African American women like me, once again, is that no matter how good you are, how hard you work or how strong your network might be, it will be challenging to secure board roles in the future. Hence, I strongly believe that more corporate leaders should demand diversity, not based on regulations, requirements or recommendations, but because the heterogeneity of thought sustains innovation in all sectors and industries. Notably, Directors & Boards?has an audience of 331,882 public and private company board members, C-suite executives and governance professionals who provide leadership, strategic direction and oversight to their organizations. Small changes can make a difference in communities that have been marginalized for years by helping to build trust and shared purpose. What are your hopes for the next generation of Black women entering AI? To be bolder in their ambition and to receive the social support needed to advance in any industry. How can we ensure that AI technologies benefit marginalized communities rather than perpetuate inequities? From a healthcare perspective, AI can help to reduce the cost of medicines thus improving access and quality by reducing the drug discovery timeline, finding new purposes for old drugs, improving our trust and reliability in the healthcare system. ?? In tech, breaking barriers requires more than innovation. It requires people who challenge the norm, take risks, and think beyond convention. I’m fortunate to work alongside #WomenInTech who do exactly that. From the engineers and product leaders in Ardas team to the caurages Grace Choi, and brilliant minds in our partner organizations, like Product Advisory Collective (PAC), and, of course, expert event speakers Lauren Lunde, Krisha Zagura, Sophia Ononye, PhD MPH MBA, Ashley Keating and more, these women are not just shaping products but redefining what leadership looks like in our industry. Old stereotypes are fading, replaced by new, more effective ways of thinking, building, and leading, giving women the green light. And that’s a change worth celebrating. Let’s recognize women’s success & growth not just today, but every day ??
