Let's create the future we want!

关于我们

The Solutions Project funds and amplifies grassroots climate justice solutions across the US and Puerto Rico, especially those created by Black, Indigenous, Immigrant, women, and other people of color-led organizations. We operate as a national intermediary dedicated to improving the material conditions of the people directly impacted by the climate crisis, who we believe play a central role in finding and scaling solutions. We make grants to over 140 organizations closest to the problems created by pollution and climate change, amplifying the ideas and energy of those on the frontlines. We use culture, policy, and media as a strategy to bring focus and attention to what is working and what is not. The current moment appeals to philanthropy to be more attuned and holistic in its approach. To recognize interconnectedness, and to be in deeper service of communities. This is the type of philanthropy we embody. We envision a world where everyone has affordable housing, meaningful work, and a healthy place to live. A world created for the people, by the people. 100% for 100%. We make grants to the dozens of organizations closest to the problems of and solutions to pollution and climate change. We also help our partners tell their stories in the media so people everywhere can see what's working in the most unlikely of places. Finally, we get the best climate solutions in front of decision makers in government, business, and philanthropy so they put their money behind what works. Let's create the future we want!

We’re thrilled to kick off a new blog series by renowned philanthropy journalist Tate Williams! This series dives into the climate and human impacts of The Solutions Project’s funding—and how grassroots innovations are driving lasting, systems-wide change. A decade ago, Tate was struck by our unique approach: funding frontline climate justice groups when most philanthropy focused on top-down solutions. Now, he’s back to unpack how our grantee partners are transforming the world with community-rooted solutions. Read the first piece here: https://lnkd.in/ekSMTb_H

In a world facing increasing environmental challenges, our grantee partner, Kua‘āina Ulu ‘Auamo is turning to Indigenous wisdom to restore the balance and sustainability that contributes to community well-being. By supporting and facilitating statewide networks to revive traditional practices in loko i?a (fishponds; indigenous aquaculture), subsistence fishing and farming, and limu (seaweed) cultivation, KUA lifts up the work of rural and Native Hawaiian communities that demonstrate how these ancient systems can provide sustainable, abundant resources for modern populations. To learn more about their grassroots movement, which offers an incredible model for global resource management that goes beyond extraction and towards harmony with nature, visit our Storybank website Link here: https://lnkd.in/dqFGJHgY #TheSolutionsProject #DecadeOfSolutions #LetsCreateTheFuture

Last month, we celebrated The Solutions Project’s 10th anniversary—a decade of championing community-led climate solutions. In that time, we’ve proudly supported over 350 grassroots groups across the U.S., with 90% led by women or people of color. These frontline leaders are proving that real climate solutions start in their communities. But the climate crisis is more urgent than ever. From deadly heat waves to devastating storms, the stakes couldn’t be higher. That’s why we’re doubling down on climate justice solutions. A huge thanks to our partners and allies — including our co-founder Mark Ruffalo — for standing with the frontlines. Will you join us? Together, we can amplify the innovative solutions already proving their power. Donate today to move resources quickly to the communities that need them most right now. Every dollar makes an impact. https://lnkd.in/gWcB-BaK

Last week’s election outcome is a significant setback for climate justice, particularly for Black, Indigenous, and communities of color. Trump’s track record on climate is egregious: from withdrawing from the Paris Agreement and rolling back more than 100 critical environmental policies to expanding fossil fuel production and weakening fuel efficiency standards. His rhetoric—including calling climate change a ‘hoax’—and actions have condoned and fueled climate denial, division, and racism. Yet, we persist. Now is the time to double down and stand in solidarity with climate solutions led by communities most impacted. Grassroots leaders continue to drive real solutions—creating green jobs, fighting for clean air, and building resilience in the face of climate change.

We experienced a significant loss for climate justice yesterday, with major repercussions for the health, well-being and livelihoods of Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color, as well as other marginalized people across our country. Trump’s victory is a profound setback for our collective work on climate, equity, and justice and we are deeply disappointed by its implications for our shared future. But we’ve been here before, and this is not the time to give up. Despite setbacks and challenges, we will persist. The grassroots organizations, alliances, and frontline community leaders we support will continue their work to build a better future for all of us – creating green jobs, growing community gardens, reducing emissions, advocating for cleaner air, and ensuring that frontline communities of color are at the center of the climate agenda. They understand the stakes, and are building deep local infrastructure for climate mitigation, adaptation, and resilience that is capable of withstanding the changing waves of national politics. With our support, these grassroots leaders will continue to drive solutions and build power from the ground up. “This result is a significant setback for climate investment and action, especially for frontline communities of color and those most vulnerable to the climate crisis,” said Gloria Walton, President and CEO of The Solutions Project. “Trump’s track record on climate is egregious: from withdrawing from the Paris Agreement and rolling back more than 100 critical environmental policies to expanding fossil fuel production and weakening fuel efficiency standards. His rhetoric—including calling climate change a ‘hoax’—and actions have condoned and fueled climate denial, division, and racism. When our elected officials pull away from climate and from justice, we lean in, especially for the climate solutions led by those most impacted.” Solidarity must counter division. It’s a time to check in with those you care about and deepen support for the work you believe in. Grassroots climate organizations need our solidarity, support, and funding. This moment demands that we all step up—from philanthropy to business leaders and everyday people—to fill the gaps that will be left by the federal government. We need your partnership now more than ever. It is time to go all in on climate justice. Join us in standing with frontline communities and donate now to support the work of our grassroots partners who are ready to scale their success. Donate now?to ensure grassroots solutions can continue to sustain and scale. (link in comments).
