2025 marks the dawn of a next generation, Gen Beta. They will be born between 2025-2039, and according to McCrindle, be 16% of the global population by 2035. Their parents will be younger Millennials and Gen Z's and many will live to see the 22nd century if the aliens or climate change don't come for us by then.
?Here's what we know about them so far:
1) They are post-AI. There are so many tools at their fingertips to do essential tasks for them that education and the workforce will have no choice but to adapt.?
2) Parents who work from home (at least part-time) and have side hustles will be the norm.?
3) They will be digitally immersed, and "tech savvy" will turn into meaning knowing how to code and build vs just knowing how to navigate digital landscapes because it will be second nature.
4) That said, their screen and social time we think is a bit of a toss up. Gen Z and Older Alphas are known for being chronically online, but a lot of them have spoken out about how they don't want to raise iPad babies like Millennials and have seen the negative consequences of early screen time and social media access even when parents are trying their best. TBD.?
5) Gen Z is politically pretty split. More of Gen Z and young Millenials lean left, but the margin is thinner than it's made out to be. But, they perceive their sentiments about issues and values to be at odds. We think this will mean a bit of a rift in Gen Beta as far as how they will be raised.?
6) Gen Beta will be diverse. Gen Z is the most racially diverse, neurodiverse, and sexually diverse generation. This will reflect in Gen Beta.?
7) Gen Z is very open about their struggles with Mental Health and they are noted as the most anxious and depressed generation. How this will manifest in their impact on Gen Beta is something we will be tracking.?
Welcome to the party, Gen Beta. Sorry your Mom's Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow phrase and your Dad's old Hinge pics of him pretending to catch a fish live on the internet in perpetuity.
