I've risked everything to save animals like Pao, who we rescued from a dog meat farm in China. But we need thousands more people involved if we are going to save, not just Pao, but the billions of others lying in cages and chains. This week, we're announcing our plans to build that movement for rescue. I'm at the Animals and Vegan Advocacy Summit through Sunday, with talks on Thursday at 9 and Saturday at 2. Come say hello! And join us on May 26 as we discuss a roadmap to constitutional animal rights! Read more: https://lnkd.in/ePQHyNQR

From Wayne Hsiung: For years, the government failed to respond to complaints that Ridglan was violating the law. Now, using a procedure made famous by Watergate and the Trump trials, we are turning the tables.? Read more: https://lnkd.in/eXNRsdaE

From Wayne Hsiung: The real reason the case was dropped is this: the industry was terrified that the court was moments away from issuing a ruling that could uncover abuse of animals by some of the largest and most powerful corporations in the world - and transform the status of animal rights. From Wayne Hsiung: t's hard to believe I nearly left her to die. But this is the result of a system that inflicts brutality on billions, that tells us, over and over, "You can't." That is a lie. I can. And you can, too. And if we see our power, we can save them all. #RidglanBeagleRescueTrial Read more: https://lnkd.in/ehB9ZYZj

From Wayne Hsiung: On March 18, I go on trial for rescuing a blind beagle puppy, Julie, from a cage. But at stake is not just my freedom - and hers - but a 75-year war against the animals we love most. From Wayne Hsiung: In just over a month, I face my next felony trial for rescuing 3 beagles from one of the largest dog breeding and research facilities in the nation, Ridglan Farms. Our betrayal of these beagles, the dogs who love us most, reflects dark tendencies in the human psyche that threaten the survival of our species. It's time for that story to be told. Starting today, my focus will be sharing that story with the world -- and also asking all of you to join us in telling a different story. The story of rescue. #RidglanRescueTrial Read more: https://lnkd.in/eFZUWXAq

From Wayne Hsiung: Those who know me well, also know that I have lots of (mostly bad) ideas. Decades of isolation created in me a very active inner mental life. I am always thinking and rethinking things; sometimes it feels like my brain is a hurricane, and one that I can never turn off. (This is particularly bad when I’m re-living failed rescue scenarios, and imagining the ones we’ve left behind.) Occasionally, I have an idea that matters, and brings me immense hope. Until now, I thought the right to rescue was the most important idea I’ve ever had. Rescue, I argued, is the embodiment of animal liberation, and it must be defended in court. But after weeks of pacing back and forth in jail, another idea started forming in my mind. It was one of those exceedingly rare lightbulb moments. And I’m writing about this idea — which I’m calling the Law of Social Entropy — for the first time today. If I’m right about social entropy, it is a reason for not just hope, but utter certainty, in the fight for animal rights. But it also makes clear that each of us, no matter how small we may feel, has an absolutely crucial role in systemic change. The smallest jiggles can change the world. Never forget that. And never stop fighting. Because your vulnerability — and theirs — may turn out to be our greatest strength. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eyRH9ePq
