Big News! We’re honored to welcome Tyler Shultz to our Board of Directors! Theranos whistleblower Tyler Shultz, a scientist, startup founder, and strong advocate for ethical innovation, is bringing his expertise and dedication to our mission: holding power accountable and supporting those who speak out against wrongdoing. “I’ve seen firsthand the immense challenges whistleblowers face and the critical role support plays in their journey. This organization provides the protections and resources I wish I had, empowering individuals to speak out without being left to navigate the fallout alone,” said Tyler Shultz. NEW DEVELOPMENT: Protect Democracy and Selendy Gay PLLC have filed a suit on our behalf with NARFE: The Association for Federal Employees and Retirees to challenge this administration's attempt to dismantle a cornerstone of American democracy: a federal civil service rooted in merit and integrity. Schedule Policy/Career would eliminate one of the most successful oversight mechanisms for government agencies and cancel the rule of law in our country.?Our lawsuit asserts that Schedule Policy/Career subverts the time-honored national principle of governmental checks and balances, is a danger to our democratic institutions, and puts Americans’ safety at grave risk. This lawsuit is a big undertaking, but we’re ready to prove that Americans want and need competent federal workers who are loyal to the U.S. Constitution—not to this and any other president in power. Learn more about this important step towards protecting our federal civil service when we need it the most. ??

President Carter paved way for whistleblower protections, open government One of the often overlooked, yet longest-lasting, achievements of President Jimmy #Carter was his commitment to protecting people who speak out against #wrongdoing. In 1978, Carter championed three major open government bills during his tenure: the Inspector General Act that created 12 independent inspectors general to investigate wrong-doing within U.S. agencies; the #Ethics in Government Act that aimed for an open government without conflicts of interest; and the Civil Service Reform Act that included protection for those who disclose information of wrong-doing and laid the groundwork for the landmark #Whistleblower Protection Act that was subsequently signed in 1989. ? When signing the Civil Service Reform Act in 1978, Carter said the new law “assures that whistleblowers will be heard, and that they will be protected from reprisal.” ? Worldwide, many countries still do not benefit from these whistleblower protection laws. That is why TSN actively supports whistleblowers in more than a dozen countries. We are proud to support whistleblowers in the U.S. who benefit from these protections today.” TSN is an international 501(c)3 organization that supports whistleblowers who have shared public interest information with the press. Founded in 2017, TSN provides end-to-end support to whistleblowers around the world and works with journalists to hold some the world’s most powerful institutions accountable.
