Every October, World Blindness Awareness Month shines a spotlight on the blind and visually impaired community, raising awareness about the challenges of living without sight. The World Health Organization (WHO) notes that “everyone, if they live long enough, will experience at least one eye disease or disorder in their lifetime.” The Sight Center is commemorating the occasion with a month-long campaign that will bring attention to blindness, celebrate independence, dispel misconceptions, and promote services for people who live with little or no sight. https://lnkd.in/gzKVbEY4

I write this message with mixed emotions. Program Director Dani Moran will be leaving The Sight Center on September 26 for a new position with Prevent Blindness Ohio. I am happy for Dani and her new opportunity, but I am sad that she will be leaving The Sight Center. With over 30 years of experience in blindness rehabilitation, including more than 17 years with The Sight Center, her absence will certainly be felt, both personally and professionally. We will especially miss her caring personality and love of shenanigans. Since her announcement, we've been working closely with Dani to ensure a smooth transition and a seamless handoff of duties to other staff during the interim period. The current Sight Center team is ready for the new challenge, largely thanks to Dani's leadership. She is a true professional who has always been committed to the mission of this great organization and to the people it serves. Until a new Program Director is in place, please direct future correspondence to me at [email protected] or 419-720-3937 x 3804 On behalf of the board and staff of The Sight Center, I wish Dani all the best in her new role! Tim Tegge, Executive Director
