I may have missed Georgia’s Firefighter Appreciation Day yesterday, but I still want to take a moment to show my gratitude. Police and firefighters may give each other a hard time, but it comes from a deep, unspoken bond of brotherhood and sisterhood. I have the utmost appreciation for every firefighter who has stood beside me through countless high-stress emergencies, always ready to risk it all to save lives. Today marks the 7th anniversary of my transition from law enforcement to the private sector. I find myself reflecting on two key things. First, I’m grateful for the skills and experiences my law enforcement career provided, which have helped me thrive beyond the badge. Second, I’m grateful that, while I no longer have to navigate treacherous terrain to investigate homicides, there are still dedicated men and women out there doing the hard work to keep our communities safe. Today, I simply feel grateful.

I was a …. I am a runner. In 2015, I reached a peak by running 121 miles in a single month. ?????? But after that, my running stopped abruptly due to bone fractures in my hip. ?? The years following, I barely ran 30 miles a month. I was afraid of getting hurt again, needing a hip replacement and, questioned whether my body could handle the demands. ?? Yesterday, nine years later and with two days left in the month, I hit a new milestone: 123 miles in one month! And my bones feel fantastic! ?? This particular journey has taught me that setbacks are not the end but opportunities to learn and grow stronger in pursuance of a goal. ???? Even when faced with challenges, the key is persistence and adapting to what you’ve learned. ?? I almost let my fear of injury hold me back, but I realized that with patience, resilience, and determination, I could still achieve more than I thought possible. ????♂? So, no matter what obstacles you face—whether in running, business, or life—don’t just get back up, do an enthusiastic Ninja Kick-up. ?? Embrace the challenge, adapt, and keep pushing forward. ??
