? #CiteBlackWomenSundays ? Today, we celebrate Dr. Keisha Bentley-Edwards and Dr. Valerie Adams-Bass for their work: "I Am Not (Your) Superwoman, Black Girl Magic, or Beautiful Struggle: Rethinking the Resilience of Black Women and Girls," published in American Psychologist. This powerful article challenges the glorification of struggle through #BlackGirlMagic and Strong Black Woman schemas, urging researchers, interventionists, and practitioners to rethink resilience for Black women and girls. By integrating Black feminist thought and womanism frameworks, the authors provide critical insights to promote the healthy development of Black women and girls across the lifespan. Resilience, as they argue, must go beyond glorifying survival. It requires addressing immediate psychosocial and physical needs while dismantling systemic barriers that perpetuate adversity. This is essential reading for anyone committed to equity and justice. ? One of the most common questions we get is: “Is it too late for me to publish?” The answer: It’s rarely about timing—it’s about relevance. Many researchers and practitioners publish years after conducting research or completing a project. Often, the insights you gained from your work are just as valuable today, especially if you can update your findings with relevant context. In fact, time can often provide the perspective needed to add depth to your analysis. If it’s been a few years since your research or practice work, here are 3 actionable tips to get started: 1?? Refresh Your Literature Review: Catch up on recent publications related to your topic. This helps you position your work alongside new developments and lets you address current gaps in the field. 2?? Determine Relevance: Re-examine your research question or your practice in light of current issues. How does your work add to the current conversation? Providing updated context can make your work feel even more impactful and necessary. 3?? Consider “Lessons Learned” or “Reflections”: Many journals appreciate reflective articles that analyze practical or real-world applications over time. This approach allows you to discuss changes in the field, what worked, and the long-term value of your findings. Remember, publishing is about contributing to the body of knowledge—your experience, insights, and hard-earned lessons are always valuable. ??? #ManuscriptWriting #GetPublished #PublicHealth ?#TheScriptLab
