关于我们
Our Mission Statement: “To reduce the number of lower extremity amputations and to improve the quality of life for our fellow citizens who are afflicted with wounds and complications of diabetes and peripheral arterial disease. We will accomplish these goals by educating professionals, students and patients through advanced evidence based methods and through community outreach.” The Save A Leg, Save A Life Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit foundation, Tax ID #20-3686866. Our primary method of outreach is the community chapter model in which medical professionals, care givers, and patients can gather together to learn more about medical treatments available and options to prevent amputations. Please visit the community chapters page to find a location near you or to start a chapter of your own. We are also proud to host a national conference in which world class and cutting edge medical education is presented to physicians, nurses, and health care providers from around the country to assist them in learning the most up-to-date information possible to improve patient outcomes.

?? Today is Worldwide Pressure Injury Prevention Day! ?? At the Save a Leg, Save a Life Foundation, we are committed to raising awareness about the critical issue of pressure injuries, particularly heel ulcers, and their serious implications for our health. Heel pressure injuries, often overlooked, can be a gateway to significant morbidity, especially in individuals with diabetes and other chronic health conditions. These painful wounds can result from prolonged pressure on the heels, often due to immobility, friction, or inadequate support. ?? Did You Know? Research indicates that the incidence of diabetic heel ulcers ranges from **19% to 32%** among patients with diabetes. Unfortunately, these ulcers can lead to serious complications, including infections, and may ultimately necessitate lower extremity amputations. In fact, many amputations stem from complications associated with neglected pressure injuries. How You Can Help: - Education: Learn about the risk factors and signs of pressure injuries to catch them early. - Prevention: Regularly reposition individuals at risk, use pressure-relieving devices, and ensure proper nutrition. - Advocacy: Support initiatives that focus on wound care and pressure injury prevention in your community. Let’s commit to saving legs and saving lives by taking action today! Together, we can reduce the incidence of pressure injuries and their devastating consequences. #WorldwidePressureInjuryPreventionDay #SaveALegSaveALife #HeelUlcers #PressureInjuryPrevention #WoundCare Frank Aviles, PT,CWS,FACCWS,CLT-LANA,ALM,AWCC Carol Barry Diane Weiss Desmond Bell DPM, CWS Alton R.
