We Build Purpose-Driven, Resilient Leaders Equipped to Lead World-Class Teams

关于我们

The Savage Leader is creating a movement of leaders and teams who have big goals AND non-negotiable values. Values are more than just our “Why.” Values are also “How” we live our lives and chase after those goals. The “How” matters. It defines us. The movement started as an idea—that each one of us has the opportunity to live a life and career aimed at Greatness, which is the alignment of our ambitious goals and our values. That we can have big dreams and goals, but do so in a way that connects to our values. Practically speaking, we are a team of keynote speakers, workshop facilitators, corporate trainers, and executive coaches. Our work starts by helping leaders and their teams define their core values and align those values with their big goals—what we call Greatness. From there, we help leaders develop themselves as leaders before shifting to how they can effectively lead their teams. We focus on defining a personal brand, adopting a mindset of lifelong learning, changing the relationship with discomfort as fuel for growth, and helping overcome and eliminate the barriers that get in our way of achieving our Greatness. Next, and only after leaders understand what it means to be a Great Leader, we shift our focus to what it means to be a great people leader and coaching the mindsets and skill sets required to do so. We coach leaders to inspire their teams, create a sense of purpose, act as a coach to their teams, and to create strong team dynamics. READY TO GET STARTED? Core values are the O/S for any great leader and team. Use the following questions to see if your team is living up to your values.

Building confident, purpose-driven, resilient leaders who thrive during change

Does your team live up to its core values? Here’s a quick litmus test. Values are the operating system of any leadership team. They are the North Star guiding your mission and the foundation anchoring you in turbulent times. Yet, over time, values can become inert, turning into “meaningless words.” Here’s 5 questions to gauge the actual impact of your team’s values: #1 - Decision-Making: Reflect on the past month. How do your decisions align with your values? For example, growth. #2 - Team Interactions: Consider recent team interactions. How do behaviors reflect your values? For example, candor. #3 - Time Allocation: Think about recent meetings. How does the time allocated to key topics reflect your values? For example, innovation. #4 - Planning: Look at next quarter’s plan. How do the planned actions align with your values? For example, sustainability. #5 - Recognition: Reflect on recent internal awards and acknowledgments. Do they celebrate your team’s values in action? For example, champions of change. So, how did you do? Have your team’s values become siloed from the core workings of your team? Or are they the driving force behind your team’s actions, decisions, and behaviors, shaping how time is allocated? If they have become "meaningless words", what actions can you take to re-integrate them into your team’s operating system? #thesavagemanager

Building confident, purpose-driven, resilient leaders who thrive during change

Life is a daily comparison. With friends, family and co-workers. Comparison is toxic and drains us. What if we just stopped? As humans, we constantly compare ourselves to the people around us. To our co-workers, to our friends, to our neighbors, and even to our family members. We compare the progress in our careers, our titles, the logos on our business cards, our salaries, and how many followers we have on social media. We also compare our houses, the cars we drive, where we go on vacation, the brands we wear on our backs.? We even compare the success of our kids in school and in sports. If we look in the mirror, I think all of us are guilty of comparison, at least in some way. I know I am. What if we stopped? What if we stopped comparing all attributes of our lives to others, even for just a moment? Imagine what that would do for us. Comparison makes us dismiss our achievements. Comparison blinds us to our progress. Comparison drains our sense of fulfillment. Comparison makes us feel small and insignificant And as Theodore Roosevelt once said, “Comparison is the thief of joy.” Let’s commit to stopping the freight train of comparisons and see what it does for us. For me, I’m going to try to stop comparing: -The number of Amazon reviews for my book, The Savage Leader -What podcasts invite me on as a guest -The number of likes on social posts What about you? What comparisons are you willing to stop making? Steve Gatena, thanks for sharing the Roosevelt quote during your interview for my next book and inspiring this post. #thesavageleader
