Happy Juneteenth!
In the spirit of Juneteenth, Sandbox is embracing the philosophy of "a day on, not a day off." This means that rather than taking the day as a holiday, we are encouraging our employees to actively engage in activities that support our community and advance the principles of equality and justice.
Here are some suggestions we shared with our team:
? Volunteer at a Juneteenth Event: A few members of the Sandbox team will be supporting the The Gloucester Institute's Juneteenth celebration.
? Support Local Black-Owned Businesses: Take the time to support Black-owned businesses in your area. Whether it's dining at a local restaurant, shopping at a boutique, or using services provided by Black entrepreneurs, your support can make a significant difference.? See here for a list of Richmond Black restaurants: https://rbre365.com/.
? Educational Activities: Use this day to educate yourself and others about the history and significance of Juneteenth. Attend virtual seminars, read books, or watch documentaries that delve into African American history and the ongoing fight for civil rights.?

? Personal Reflection and Action: Reflect on ways you can contribute to advancing racial equity in your daily life and in our workplace. Consider mentoring, joining diversity and inclusion groups, or advocating for policies that promote equality.
By taking these actions, we can collectively honor the legacy of Juneteenth and contribute to the ongoing pursuit of justice and equality.?We will ask that folks share their experiences and reflections at our 6/25 Tuesday standup so please be prepared to report out.
