Attending the Richmond Technology Council - rvatech/ Women in Tech Conference this week was a game-changer for me. While I don’t often have the opportunity to attend such women-centric events, my invitation to speak at the conference on the 'Women in Deep Tech' panel may have opened a new strategic direction for our company, and I’m excited to make sure I don’t miss one in the future. The room was bristling with 500 amazing women, all driven by tech innovation, excitement, intelligence, and ambition! During Katie McMahon’s morning talk on AI, I learned that ChatGPT supercomputers consume 185 gallons of water per minute for cooling, amounting to nearly 100 million gallons a year. It’s no surprise that rural communities, where many of these data centers are established for economic development, are raising serious concerns. The cooling water demand places significant stress on their often-limited supplies. This insight sparked an idea about leveraging Micronic Technologies' wastewater treatment technology to recycle 95% of that water instead of releasing it into the air, where it eventually trickles back into the water table. Imagine reusing all that water right on-site! I'm looking for innovative and entrepreneurial individuals to assist in ‘customer discovery’ of this emerging market to address this critical need.
