We are proud to welcome Paige Salvador to our Advisory Board at The Salvation Army Camden Kroc Center! Paige Salvador?is the HR Manager of Employee Experience at United States Cold Storage, Inc., where she has worked for six years. In this role, she focuses on fostering a positive and engaging workplace culture while leading Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives. Previously, Paige served as Development Director at The Alice Paul Institute, where she secured funding for leadership programs empowering young women and helped preserve Paulsdale, a National Historic Landmark. She also served as Executive Director of the Vascular Birthmarks Foundation, advancing education for physicians and healthcare providers on diagnosing and managing vascular birthmarks while providing vital support and referrals for affected individuals. Her dedication to community service is evident through her past board membership with the American Red Cross (2022–2024) and her ongoing efforts to connect U.S. Cold Storage employees with volunteer opportunities in Camden. She is particularly passionate about food security and expanding access to mental health and well-being programs, especially for seniors facing isolation and loneliness. We partnered with The Campbell's Company to host a unique, interactive culinary experience for youth in our After School program. Campbell’s Executive Chef Gerald Drummond led a live, multinational cooking demonstration, introducing the young participants to traditional flavors and dishes from three countries. Chef Drummond guided the students through the origins of each recipe and the cultural significance of the featured ingredients. Attendees, participating both in person and virtually—including Campbell’s employees at their Camden headquarters—had the opportunity to sample the flavorful creations. "I encourage everyone to try foods from other cultures," said Chef Drummond. "Open mind, open palate!" 30 children, ages 5-13, from the Camden Kroc Center’s afterschool program enthusiastically followed along with Chef Drummond, tasted dishes that expanded their palates while broadening their understanding of cultural traditions. "My favorite part was the beef patty! I also loved the sour juice. The texture and the taste were great," shared Luis, a Camden Kroc Center afterschool Student. The experience brought together diverse groups to celebrate the power of food to unite people and honor cultural heritage. “It was amazing!” said Kaprena Morris, Family & Youth Development Manager at the Camden Kroc Center. “The overall experience was enlightening, informative, and a fun time to celebrate Black History Month. The kids had the culinary experience of a lifetime.” Chef Drummond’s expertise, developed over 30 years in the food service industry, made this event a memorable one for all involved. His dedication to showcasing the origins and meaning of global cuisines highlighted the importance of appreciating diverse culinary traditions. The Salvation Army Camden Kroc Center continues to bring enriching experiences like this to the community, inspiring learning, connection, and cultural appreciation. #TheCenterOfOpportunity #BHM2025
