A recent New York Times article highlights a growing issue: food assistance programs are losing crucial funding, threatening access to fresh, healthy food. For two years, The Salem Pantry has relied on the Local Food Purchase Agreement (LFPA) through the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources to provide fresh produce, eggs, and more to thousands of families. But this funding has now been cut at the federal level. This is just the latest in a series of federal cuts affecting vulnerable populations and the organizations that serve them. Despite this, we’re committed to moving forward, but we need your help now more than ever.
