?? ?? "Women lift up economies...we always have, we always will".
Brenda (Maxx) Cumby McGee, Founder of Gott Street Blues, is a lifelong construction worker and fashion model - a unique pairing of expertise that is one of a kind.
When in construction, she, and all women wore pants that were men's styles copied and pasted for "women" - this led to physical harm because the pants just didn't fit.
Brenda (Maxx) created one of the first ever denim pant designed for women in construction, or any physical labor for that matter. Just a few of the never-before-seen features...reinforced inner thigh, deeper back pockets, D-rings on the bands for keys, kneepads within.
Touching on why now, why this line is so important and whether or not she'll design for men in the future, Brenda (Maxx) shares,
"I’m just excited because I think right now we’re in a time that women have now gotten fed up - there’s this energy that is just getting ready to explode...
Women are pushed back, to the side like we’re too emotional, hysterical but the thing is a lot of times what comes out of us is sheer frustration and anger because we’re not taken seriously".
And when asked, "what about the men" - Brenda (Maxx) and I go deep on how 2 things can be true at once - we care about all humanity, including men, and we choose in this moment and time to amplify women.
It's not about tearing men down, it's about uplifting women!
When women win, all of humanity wins.
