A great example of being proactive and closing the PPE Equity Gap in the workplace. Well done!
During Women in Construction Week 2025, we're highlighting an important safety initiative at Superior Construction: providing our female field employees with properly fitted Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). "In the past, we were constantly adjusting our PPE because it was too loose. We really welcome these items!" - Amanda King, Journeyman Laborer, MidSouth Heavy Civil Division When PPE doesn't fit correctly, it creates unnecessary risks. Loose-fitting vests, oversized gloves, and improperly sized safety glasses can catch on machinery or impair movement. That's why in 2024, we introduced: ? Form-fitting safety vests ? Properly sized work gloves ? Women-specific safety glasses At Superior Construction, safety isn't one-size-fits-all. We're committed to ensuring every team member has the proper equipment to work safely and effectively. Great example of why proper fitting PPE & workwear is important.
??♀? Women’s Vs ?? Men’s PPE: What’s the Difference? A LOT! Women in male-dominated industries often have to compromise on safety and comfort, wearing PPE designed for men. Following International Women’s Day, we’re shining a light on why properly fitting, female-inclusive PPE is essential. Why Does It Matter? ?? Poor Fit = Poor Protection – If PPE doesn’t fit properly, it can’t do its job. ?? Discomfort leads to non-compliance – Ill-fitting gear could mean workers may be less inclined to wear it consistently. ?? One size does NOT fit all – Women’s body proportions differ from men’s, meaning a smaller men’s size isn’t the solution. ?? It helps retain & attract more women – The right PPE shows women that they belong in these industries, not as an afterthought, but as valued professionals. Read our latest insight on why female-inclusive PPE is a practical and necessary step that businesses, manufacturers, and industry leaders can take to #AccelerateAction ?? https://lnkd.in/eAh_9ige Thank you to our model Ali Hendy for providing visual examples of why this matters. At The Safety Rack, we believe the most powerful way to raise awareness about the PPE Equity Gap and drive real change is by amplifying the voices of the women directly impacted. That’s why we’re launching our?Voices for Change?series this Monday on our website. This series highlights the firsthand experiences of women facing the challenges of ill-fitting PPE in the workplace—providing valuable insight for employers, manufacturers, and distributors on the urgent need for better solutions. Kicking off the series is none other than TSR’s own PPE Welding Expert & Advocate, DeIla Ray. In?Forging a Future: DeIla Ray’s Journey in Welding and Advocacy, we dive into a powerful conversation about her experiences in the industry and her passion to create change. Don’t miss it—coming tomorrow to our website! #womenequity #ppe #workplacesafety #womeninppe #womenintrades #ppeequity
