On this #WorldFoodDay, we reflect on the impact and progress we’ve seen around the world – spurred by our partners who are transforming food systems and feeding the most vulnerable people: children. One of the most inspiring? Cup Of Uji, a Kenyan organization on a mission to improve the lives of young learners with nutritious school meals, many sourced from climate-resilient crops like sorghum. This includes students at Athi River Primary School, south of Nairobi where the effects of #climatechange make it even harder for families to serve a meal every day. Today at the #WHS24 our SVP for Health, Naveen Rao spoke at the Redefining Global Health in the Era of Climate Shocks panel, emphasizing the vital role of community-driven solutions and partnerships advancing climate action for health. ?? We are on the brink of another transformation in the field of global health — one that will redefine what it means to live, thrive, and to build a future where health and climate justice are inseparable. Transforming global public health for climate shocks will require all of us to work in new ways, including ways that our field has found challenging in the past. We see collaboration at the heart of this effort. Together, we can achieve universal health coverage, vibrant, climate-adaptive cities, global financing for vulnerable populations, and clean energy solutions?

We’re thrilled that last week the USDA announced an investment of $1.7 billion for purchase of locally and regionally produced foods and domestically produced foods for emergency food assistance. This includes $500M in additional funding for the Local Food Purchase Assistance Cooperative Agreement Program (LFPA), which has been supported by our grantee Wallace Center.
