关于我们
Promoting the well-being of humanity since 1913. Since our founding, The Rockefeller Foundation has brought people together around the globe to try to solve the world’s most challenging problems and promote the well-being of humanity. Today, in a world capable of so much, it is unacceptable that there are still so many with so little. That’s why The Rockefeller Foundation fights to secure the fundamentals of human well-being—health, food, energy, jobs—so they’re within reach for everyone, everywhere in the world. Our approach is grounded in what we’ve seen work over more than a century: It’s inspired by science, rigorous about data, brings together and empowers others, and is focused on real results that improve people’s lives.

The Rockefeller Foundation is proud to be the first philanthropy to join the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty. ?? In collaboration with the Global Alliance, a key initiative of Brazil's G20 presidency, we are committed to channeling resources towards transformative solutions like school meal programs – which provide essential nutrition and support local, regenerative agriculture, creating lasting economic and environmental benefits. We are deeply grateful for the leadership of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, President of the Global Alliance and President of Brazil, Carla Barroso Carneiro, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Brazil to the UN Rome-based Agencies, and Qu Dongyu, Director-General of the FAO, in this critical effort. With the School Meals Coalition and G20 Summit on the horizon, we urge other philanthropies to join this global movement. By working together, we can ensure that nutritious, sustainable meals reach those who need them most while building a greener future for all. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eaquccan

Yesterday we convened a pivotal event co-hosted with the Global Alliance for the Future of Food calling for partners to coordinate resources and investments that fuel regenerative and agroecological transitions. ?????? The event brought together philanthropic, public, and private partners committed to improving our planet through long-term food systems transformation. With a focus on Brazil, Asia, East Africa, and the Midwest US, panelists and speakers highlighted that the health of our farmers, communities, and planet depends on our actions today. RF EVP Elizabeth Yee underscored the need for this transition: "The regenerative transformation is not the easy choice but it is the right one. It's the choice for farmers and their families. It's the choice for the most disadvantaged consumers, like the students who rely on school meals. And it's the choice for the health of our planet." By transitioning to regenerative agricultural systems, we can significantly enhance lives, safeguard biodiversity, and stabilize our climate. During #UNGA79, we had the privilege of hosting African First Ladies representing eight countries from OAFLAD, for a roundtable on climate-resilient school meals at The Graduate Center, City University of New York. ???? First ladies H.E Mama Rachael Ruto, Fatima Maada Bio, Zita Nyangue Oligui Nguema, Sen Oluremi Tinubu, Monica Chakwera, Ana Dias Louren?o, Mariam Mwinyi, and Denise Nyakeru shared the meaningful work they are doing in their countries to expand school feeding programs and transform food systems to improve millions of children’s lives. The Rockefeller Foundation’s Elizabeth Yee, William Asiko, Betty Kibaara, and Roy Steiner underscored that sustainable school meal programs are crucial, they increase school enrollment, reduce dropout rates, and enhance overall academic performance. They can also be a climate solution – with the potential to drive demand for climate-resilient, regeneratively produced agriculture. “The role of the First Ladies can be as catalysts for change, and we hope we can be a partner in that endeavor,” said Roy Steiner, Food Vice President. The Food System Game Changers Lab convened 505 participants from 85 countries who spent 13 weeks collaborating on 24 collective food systems innovations. It grew out of a need to include their frontline voices in the U.N. Food Systems Summit, held during the U.N. General Assembly in 2021. It also created a climate warrior in Ledama Masidza of Kenya. Masidza and the members of his group from Brazil, Canada, Fiji, and Nigeria have continued their work. They’ve taken the name LIFT – Local and Indigenous Food Transformation – and are focused on helping Indigenous communities to fight food insecurity in the face of climate change.
