Biglaw firms have pulled back in on-campus interviewing and early interview programs for summer associates in a?major?way. In fact, according to the National Association for Law Placement (NALP), this was the first time in decades that law firms have made the majority of their offers outside of traditional placement plans. According to the latest?recruiting figures from NALP, in terms of 2025 recruiting, total offer volume was flat, while 49% of callback interviews resulted in offers, up three percentage points from last year (although as NALP notes, this is below the offer rate range of 50-58% from 2014-2022). With fewer offers on the table, desperation was once again thick in the air, and it translated to an acceptance rate to those offers of 49% (up two percentage points from last year) — the highest acceptance rate NALP has ever recorded. Thanks to the?surging costs of child care across the nation, many working parents say they would rather have employers subsidize their child care than receive a raise. That was one of the takeaways from a?recent KinderCare Confidence Index report, which found 59% of respondents share that sentiment.?The survey, which polled 2,504 parents with children age 12 and younger, highlighted how some parents are putting more pressure on employers to help address the national child-care crisis. A?Business Journals?report last year?that looked at the nation's child-care shortage found growth in child-care costs has outpaced other daily expenses and the cost of child care keeps growing. The average national price for child care annually rose 3.7% between 2022 to 2023, to $11,582 per child, according to Child Care Aware of America. Strong showings in both litigation and corporate work in 2024 helped Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough grow its revenue and other financial metrics well beyond the rate of increase of previous years, its managing partner said. The South Carolina-founded firm, whose largest office is in Atlanta, reported it increased gross revenue by 18% to $934.6 million in 2024, double the 9% growth rate of the previous year. Its net income increased by a whopping 29% to $368.1 million—almost six times the previous year’s increase of around 5%. As a result, profits per equity partner (PEP) rose by 32.7%—almost four times the previous year’s rate—to $2.2 million. Many job seekers say they aren’t seeing the benefits of digital hiring systems, which are supposed to feature an easier application process, and also feel their resumes aren’t being seen by the right people — or anyone at all. In fact,?a recent report from resume and career advice platform MyPerfectResume?found 59% of job seekers believe less than a quarter of their applications are being reviewed by an actual human. The Job Search Behavior report, which surveyed 1,000 workers, examined a growing frustration workers are grappling with, which has led many to lie on their applications or apply to jobs outside of their industry. Additionally, 27% of respondents acknowledged they’ve lied on applications, 42% said they are applying for jobs they’re overqualified for and 71% said they are looking outside of their current industry to get hired.
