It's too easy to focus on the negative ways that our work impacts our personal life and vice versa. How often do we take the time to focus on the ways that our work positively impacts our life and vice versa. Here's an evidenced-based example on how to build optimism which can be highly stabilizing in times of uncertainty.
?? This picture represents a dream come true. This was sent to me last night from an organizational client who was sharing something he learned in our workplace trainings and consulting with those in his personal life. What you're looking at is an evidenced-based practice of building optimism. ?? 3 Good Things. ?? At the end of the day, what were 3 Good Things from you day. Big and small. Moments that when you close your eyes and relive that moment, fills you with joy and peace. ?? The dream: On April 1, 2018, I officially gave up my clinical caseload to make a run a creating systemic resiliency at scale. The challenge was how to reach those that, for so many reasons, would never find themselves in our clinic. The goal was to build a model to deliver the same skills at a non-clinical threshold in the workplace. Our research quickly demonstrated that the same path of trauma healing created high performing teams without needing formally address the underlying trauma. It's been working and this is merely a snapshot of how what we learn at work has an impact on our personal life. ?? The real gift is that when we practice these principles in our personal life, we're more likely to thrive professionally as well.

It's that time of year! Several short weeks of school in a row, and the winter holiday season is upon us. As leaders, we often overlook the powerful connection between intentional rest and workplace performance. When preparing your employees for vacation, it’s essential to set them up for success both before and after their time off. Here’s how: 1.?Encourage Clear Communication:?Have employees outline what needs to be covered while they’re away and who will handle key tasks. This helps reduce stress before they leave and strengthens team collaboration. 2. Promote Rest & Recovery: Encourage true unplugging by setting boundaries with technology and using out-of-office messages to reduce work-related temptations. Limiting check-ins to designated time-bound periods can help employees feel connected while allowing them to fully disengage for the remainder of the day. 3.?Seamless Reintegration:?Upon return, allow time for your employees to catch up at a manageable pace. Encourage reflection on what worked well in their absence—this builds resilience by identifying areas where teams can better support each other. By empowering your employees to truly rest, we build resilience across teams, foster trust, and create a healthier, more balanced workplace. #Resilience #Leadership #WorkLifeBalance #WorkLifeIntegration

?? Supporting Your Team Through Election Week With #ElectionDay tomorrow, stress and anxiety can feel amplified for leaders and teams—especially when colleagues may have differing views and priorities. In a week like this, resilient leadership is about creating space for empathy, connection, and respect while supporting each team member’s well-being. Here’s how resilient leadership can help ease tensions and foster connection during this impactful week: 1?? Encourage Mindful Communication: Rather than diving into open political discussions, focus on offering space where team members feel safe to share how they’re feeling in general terms, without discussing specific political views. Respect for one another’s boundaries is key. 2?? Offer Personal Support: Remind your team of available mental health resources and encourage wellness practices that prioritize self-care, no matter where they stand on current events. 3?? Set Boundaries for Productive Work: Allow team members to limit exposure to election discussions at work, helping everyone stay focused and calm. Manage workloads thoughtfully and give space for decompression when needed. 4?? Focus on Connection, Not Consensus: Reinforce a team culture that values connection, regardless of differing views. Simple check-ins or encouraging positive, non-political conversations can help maintain morale and team cohesion. 5?? Model Resilience and Respect: Resilience starts at the top. Demonstrate respect and calm through your own actions, leading with integrity and patience while acknowledging the unique stresses this week brings. At The Resiliency Solution we believe resilience is the cornerstone of effective leadership, especially during times of change and uncertainty. We’re here to support leaders in creating workflows and environments that cultivate strength, empathy, and a shared sense of purpose. Let’s lead through this week together, with resilience and care. #ResilientLeadership #ElectionWeek #MentalHealth #TeamSupport #TheResiliencySolution

There's no telling where the journey of resilience can take us... Just have to get started and see.
Exactly 4 years ago we started a journey of resilience-building along North Carolina’s hurricane-affected coast who were also actively struggling through Covid-19 and social unrest. We started by training Duke University students to be resiliency mentors for the local Boys & Girls Clubs of America, high schools and middle schools. I feel incredibly honored to have been part of this collaborative effort that has grow in the most amazing ways since. Together with a dedicated team, we worked to blend resilience science with hands-on outreach, creating a series of fables and workbooks for teachers. These resources were designed to integrate seamlessly into existing curricula, helping students develop resilience in a way that feels authentic and impactful. With recent devastation in Western NC schools, we are now extending this work to those communities. It’s a privilege to witness where resilience can grow, simply by showing up, asking, “How can we help?” and sharing in the journey. Thank you to everyone who has contributed along the way, and to the communities that welcomed us. We learn and grow with you. https://lnkd.in/eZkeEEHw

We are excited to welcome Eleanor George back to The Resiliency Solution! Eleanor was an integral part of our growth as an intern in 2020 and 2021, during the early days of the pandemic when workplace resiliency was thrust into the public sphere. Her contributions, particularly in developing resiliency courses for both healthcare professionals and the general public, played a key role in helping us adapt to the rapidly changing needs of our clients during that critical time. With her background in neuroscience from Duke University and her years of experience in healthcare consulting at McKinsey, Eleanor has a deep understanding of how human behavior and resilience intersect to create lasting, positive change. She has a proven track record of building close relationships, listening actively, and collaborating to find innovative solutions—qualities that will make her an invaluable asset to our future clients. As we continue to help organizations and leaders build resilience, Eleanor’s expertise in improving patient outcomes and physician education, combined with her passion for creating inclusive and empathetic environments, will directly benefit those we work with. We’re thrilled to have her back and look forward to the impact she’ll make. We've found time and time again, regardless of the season or stage your team is in, top leaders thrive by focusing on what truly matters. By integrating the principles of Essentialism, you can build stronger, more balanced teams in three key ways: 1. Clarity of Purpose: By honing in on their core priorities, leaders create space for thoughtful decision-making, fostering greater alignment and team empowerment. 2. Establishing Boundaries: Protecting energy and time by prioritizing the essentials enables leaders to achieve balance while strengthening team cohesion. 3. Sustainable Focus: Essentialism encourages disciplined attention, helping organizations avoid burnout while cultivating a culture that is both resilient and adaptable. At The Resiliency Solution, we’ve thoughtfully designed immersive leadership off-sites that integrate these principles, equipping leaders and teams with the tools they need to grow with resilience and strength. Want to read more on Essentialism? Check out author Greg McKeown. Ready to transform your leadership approach? Let’s explore how #Essentialism can shape your team’s future.
