Do you know the difference between registered nurses and nurse practitioners? To clarify misunderstandings and dispel misinformation, we’re continuing our series about the members of the health care team. The biggest difference is that RNs carry out care while NPs can prescribe care. But let’s go into more detail. According to American Nurses Enterprise, RNs provide critical care, including performing exams, providing health information, administering medications and treatments, and coordinating care with the health care team. RNs graduate with their associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing, pass the NCLEX-RN Exam, and obtain state licensure. According to American Association of Nurse Practitioners, NPs “assess patients, order and interpret diagnostic tests, make diagnoses and initiate and manage treatment plans — including prescribing medications.” NPs must first receive their RN licenses. Then, NPs earn their master’s or doctoral degree in nursing. In addition to passing the NCLEX-RN Exam, they take an additional certification exam. In over half of states, NPs can practice at the top of their scope without supervision from a physician. #NPWeek #NP #RN

Our principal, Sharon Reis, has dedicated the past 20 years of her career to team building while constantly adapting to the turbulent environment. Right now, employees want flexibility above all, but they also face challenges in the workplace such as burnout and generational friction. At TRG, we are building and strengthening our team in five areas: culture, training and mentoring, hiring, retention and engagement. For more workplace data and team building recommendations, read Sharon's new blog, "Building Team Culture and Retention in the Workplace," https://bit.ly/3NTqHER. #TeamBuilding #WorkplaceCulture #OurTake
