Clifton Superintendent of Schools Danny Robertozzi returned to work this month after undergoing triple bypass surgery this summer. The surgery was in July and he was expected to be out three months, which proved to be accurate. The superintendent said his first day back was on Nov. 4, during a shortened week due to a teachers’ convention. He said the short week helped him ease back into work. https://lnkd.in/eb-7CkCd #northjerseynews #clifton

Owners of the Crossroads Development project will enter into redevelopment plan negotiations with the township following the presentation of a fourth round of updates to the two-year-old proposal. Commonly referred to as the American Legion/Stop & Shop redevelopment area, the maps discussed at the Nov. 12 Township Council meeting outlined the latest, and what Crossroads Companies attorney Jason Tuvel described as the final, in a series of plans for three residential and commercial buildings. https://lnkd.in/eAdbXGC9 #northjerseynews #teaneck

North Jersey holiday shoppers may not spend as much this season with consumers weary after years of decades-high inflation. In fact, the National Retail Federation, a trade group, projected U.S holiday sales would grow just 3.5%, the slowest pace in six years. Consumer finance website?WalletHub reported?that 46% of Americans still had debt they were paying off from last year’s holiday shopping season.? Add to that the explosion of online shopping and diminished importance of doorbuster events such as Black Friday, and malls in New Jersey and across the nation have found themselves answering the question: how do you get people out to shop at the malls?? https://lnkd.in/ejTTpr6K #northjerseynews #newjersey #business

Nestled along Park Street, just a few hundred feet from Montclair’s Applegate Farm stands the Tinkham-Volcker house. Listed for sale in early November for $3.5 million by Saritte Harel?of Keller Williams Realty, the six-bedroom, six-bathroom Colonial Revival at 509 Park Street is a reflection of both the town’s agricultural past and its transition into a bustling modern suburb. https://lnkd.in/eXzA2JsK #northjerseynews #money #realestate #montclair

For more than a century, the Five Corners building has marked the eastern entrance to?Westwood's?mom-and-pop downtown. It was almost replaced by a chain drug store — until a nostalgic son stepped in to restore some of its former charm. Local officials, merchants and residents gathered in late October for the grand reopening of the building at Westwood Avenue and Kinderkamack Road, after a 10-month refurbishment that cost $400,000 and added a new roofline and other architectural touches to the prewar building. The ceremony also celebrated several businesses that have moved in over the past two years. https://lnkd.in/eZ3kPzgB #northjerseynews #westwood

Despite strides in survival rates,?lung cancer remains the top cause?of cancer deaths in New Jersey and was more likely to kill Black residents than other races, said a report released Tuesday. New Jersey ranked ninth among states in the five-year survival rate, which has increased by 21% due to earlier diagnosis and better treatments. But the annual "State of Lung Cancer" report by the American Lung Association also showed that the five-year survival rate among Black residents was 22.6%, compared with 32.5% among white residents in New Jersey. https://lnkd.in/e57e6BAa #northjerseynews #newjersey #health

Lawyers for four school districts argued before a state appeals court panel Tuesday that new district policies requiring school officials to inform parents of transgender students who out themselves in school do not violate the state's Law Against Discrimination, as Attorney General Matthew Platkin's office says they do. A panel of three judges listened to arguments from attorneys defending the four school districts and attorneys representing the state and the American Civil Liberties Union. https://lnkd.in/eQu4dbgQ #northjerseynews #newjersey #education
