Over the last few weeks, our employees participated in inspiring and educational programming that celebrated the rich and diverse culture of Hispanic and Latino communities, including cha-cha lessons, a high-stakes game of Loteria, and more. Embracing this year's theme, “Pioneers of Change: Shaping the Future Together,” Jeniffer Varela Rodriguez-Licata of our Hola ERG hosted a fireside chat with Vice President, People Business Partners & DEI, Javier "J" Orellana, MBA, SHRM-SCP to discuss the impact and importance of ERGs, the significance of DEI initiatives in the workplace, and how to be a Pioneer of Change. Through ongoing programming, education, and partnership with our Employee Resource Groups, The RealReal continues to cultivate an environment that celebrates differences and empowers our team to thrive.?

This week marks National Consignment Day! We created this special holiday in 2017 to raise awareness about the amazing benefits of resale. At The RealReal, we’re proud to lead the charge as the world’s largest online marketplace for authenticated luxury goods and educating consumers about better ways to shop.? By circulating gently used clothing, shoes, and accessories, we aim to give new life to items that deserve a second chance and help reduce the mountain of fashion waste. If we recirculate just 1 in 5 clothing items, we can pave the way for a more sustainable future in fashion—all while curating a closet filled with unique finds. We’re thrilled to share our partnership with Creative Growth Art Center which began with a memorable evening at our Canal Street Pop-Up in NYC. This collaboration featured 11 upcycled garments and a reimagined Hermes Birkin HAC 50, all crafted by Creative Growth artists using materials donated by The RealReal. Each piece reflects the incredible artistry of Creative Growth’s artists, with 100% of the proceeds supporting their impactful work. Unsold items will be auctioned at Creative Growth’s 50th Anniversary Gala in San Francisco later this month! The event also showcased a full-circle moment as leather artisan Tanner Leatherstein deconstructed counterfeit handbags that have been on display since June. These materials will be given to Creative Growth to reimagine and upcycle. We’re honored to be part of this meaningful project and look forward to sharing more exciting collaborations that highlight our commitment to sustainability.
