Our Chief Clinical Officer Tejal Lalaji with Anand P. Lalaji MD both were in their Radiology Residency ALBERT EINSTEIN SCHOOL OF MEDICINE and @Long Island College Hospital. They both remember that day as if it was yesterday. Please read the full account in the following post this evening.

A Personal Story of Resilience on 9/11: How It Shaped Our Journey September 11, 2001, holds a deeply personal significance for the founders of The Radiology Group, Dr. Anand Lalaji and Dr. Tejal Lalaji. Both were in their residency programs in New York—Dr. Lalaji in the Bronx, and Dr.Tejal in Brooklyn Heights—when tragedy struck. For Dr. Lalaji, the events of that day are especially close to home, as his father worked in the South Tower of the World Trade Center. On the evening of September 10, 2001, a rain-delayed Yankees game pushed Dr. Lalaji's father to start his commute later than usual on September 11. Had he followed his routine and arrived by 7 a.m., he would have been in his office when the towers were hit. Instead, by a twist of fate, he emerged from the subway just after the first plane struck. Faced with the devastation, he turned back and managed to board one of the last trains out of Ground Zero. With no communication and 5 Hours later, after walking to Penn Station, he was able to make his way back to Long Island to a very grateful family thinking he had perished in the attacks. For Dr. Tejal, the experience was equally harrowing. From the roof of her hospital in Brooklyn Heights, she and her colleagues witnessed the second plane hit the towers. The ash that covered her car in the following days became a surreal reminder of the tragedy. 9/11 deeply impacted both Dr. Lalaji and Dr. Tejal. Their resilience in the face of adversity, shaped by their experiences on that day, continues to drive them forward. Their story, and the strength of New York in the aftermath, serves as a constant source of inspiration as they lead The Radiology Group with determination, perseverance, and a commitment to rebuild stronger after hardship.
