Available now on Apple Podcasts and Spotify, the first edition is a behind-the-scenes look at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade - and how the Snoopy balloon became such an important part of the festivities. Future topics include the making of “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” and how Franklin became the strip’s first Black character. We are saddened to share that Mark Flaviani - a loving husband and father, an accomplished musician and rock of the print production team at The Press Democrat and Sonoma Media Investments - passed away peacefully at his home on Nov. 7. The Press Democrat Journalism Trust is looking for aspiring writing students enrolled or recently transferred from Santa Rosa Junior College to apply to the Gaye LeBaron Writing Scholarship! Applications are open now through Thursday, October 31st. The Trust will award a $5,000 scholarship to the most qualified student, which can be used for books, tuition, and living expenses while enrolled. Past recipients who qualify are encouraged to reapply. -- To apply for The Gaye LeBaron Writing Scholarship, students must complete the online form and submit writing samples.
