?? Be the Cat. Take Up Space. Own the Room. ?? You ever see a cat take over an entire couch, sprawled out like royalty? Not a care in the world. No guilt. No hesitation. Just fully claiming its space like the universe personally assigned it the best seat in the house. Now, what if we led like that? ?? No more shrinking in meetings like a guest at your own table. ?? No more over-explaining every decision like you need a permission slip. ?? No more “Sorry to bother you, but…”—just clear, confident leadership. Taking up space isn’t arrogance—it’s OWNERSHIP. And if you’ve been waiting for permission to own your voice, your decisions, and your impact, this is it. Go be the cat. ?? I just dropped a blog with practical ways to step into your power—so you can lead boldly and unapologetically. Check it out here: https://lnkd.in/e6A2siBD What’s one way you’re taking up space this week? Drop it in the comments! ?? #Leadership #BeTheCat #TakeUpSpace #LeadBoldly #UnapologeticLeadership

Are You Leading, or Just Managing? Here’s a question that might sting a little: ?? Are you truly leading, or are you just managing tasks? It’s a question I had to ask my client Tasha (fictional name, real struggle). She came to me frustrated—her team wasn’t taking ownership, they waited for her to make all the decisions, and she felt like she was doing all the work despite being in a leadership role. She had set clear expectations. She was organized. She was doing everything right—or so she thought. But when I asked her, “What do they think you’re doing?” she paused. Because here’s the hard truth: If your team sees you as the person who “gets things done” instead of the person who sets direction, empowers decisions, and builds strategy… you’re managing, not leading. Tasha had spent years excelling as the go-to person. The problem? She never shifted out of that mindset when she got promoted. So, we worked through it: ? She redefined what leadership meant for her. ? She shifted from being the fixer to being the guide. ? She stopped waiting to “prove herself” and started owning the room. And when she made these shifts? Her team stepped up. They started leading alongside her—because she made space for them to do so. So, I’ll ask you again: Are you leading, or just managing? If this made you think, you need to read this blog: https://lnkd.in/eaHyUyxG. And drop a comment: What’s one leadership habit you need to unlearn to lead more effectively?

?? Attention Black and Brown women at work: Your superhero cape is showing — and not in the way you want! ??????♀? It’s time to stop quietly doing all that invisible labor that drains your energy, dims your shine, and leaves you EXHAUSTED. Let’s talk about the emotional heavy-lifting, DEI side projects, and “office mom” duties you never signed up for. ????♀? I just dropped a new blog post on why it's time to shut this nonsense down and reclaim your time, energy, and voice. ??????? Trust me, you deserve to be seen, heard, and valued for the brilliant work you do — not for picking up everyone else’s slack. Time to End the Unseen Labor Tax ?? We need to have a real conversation about the silent burden placed on Black and Brown women in the workplace. Emotional caregiving, cultural mediation, and spearheading DEI efforts are often expected of them—without it ever being part of their job description. It’s not enough to simply acknowledge this work; we need to stop relying on it as a crutch for organizational well-being. This isn’t “extra effort” or a sign of “passion.” It’s invisible labor that keeps companies afloat while going unrecognized and unpaid. Leaders, it’s time to stop leaning on these women for unseen work and start creating systems that value their contributions properly—without exploitation. Ready to rethink your leadership approach? Leadership Tip: Don’t Let Doubt Dim Your Light ?? Ever felt like you’re just pretending to have it all together, waiting for the moment someone calls you out? ?? It’s that pesky voice whispering, 'You don’t belong here,' even when you’ve earned your place. But here’s a tip to keep in mind: ? Celebrate your wins, even the small ones! ? Keeping a 'Wins Jar' might sound cheesy, but it’s a game-changer. Drop a note in each time you nail a presentation, land that deal, or even just survive a tough week. When doubt creeps in, crack open that jar and remind yourself of the trail of successes you’ve left behind. Remember, you’re not an imposter—you’re just a human doing big things. ???? ??? Leadership Experience So, here’s a little story that really warmed my heart this week. Last week, I had one of those tough talks with a team member —you know, the kind where you have to lay everything on the table, even if it might sting a bit. It was all about being real, even when it’s hard. ??? Fast forward to this week, and roles reversed—I was the one in need. And you know what? The response I got was nothing short of amazing. “I got your back, Dr. Bowes! Thanks for having mine. ??” That’s what they told me, not right after our tough talk, but now, when I needed that support. It truly showed me that their words weren’t just said in passing. Leadership is about building a team where everyone feels like they can be open and honest, and where having each other’s back is just what we do. ?? Here’s to more heart-to-hearts even when it’s hard, and real support—because that’s what keeps us going strong! ?? #Leadership #Teamwork #RealTalk #Support #GrowthTogether
