Jared Niemeyer started making homemade jam to raise funds for Special Olympics Missouri, his parents shared, but he has since turned the venture into a thriving community-oriented business. Jared’s Jams sells assorted jams, jellies, syrups — including blackberry, jalapeno, crab apple and blueberry — plus vanilla extract and specialty coffee blends from a storefront and commercial kitchen on the historic square in Edina, Missouri, a town of about 1,000 in the northeast part of the state. The products can also be purchased online and at the Kirksville, Missouri, Hy-Vee, where Jared has worked part time for 13 years. “I love my community and helping customers,” said Jared, a 2011 graduate of Kirksville High School.

Lyrik’s Institution is excited to announce the launch of our transformative?2024 Donation Campaign, aimed at supporting and expanding our mission to change the lives of at-risk youth in Kansas City. This campaign is grounded in the vital work we do, addressing the deep-rooted impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and community violence through trauma-informed care and culturally competent programs. This campaign will fund critical services such as: Cognitive-Behavioral Modification (CBM) Programs?like the iBuild Cohort Cultural Intervention, which equip youth with the skills to overcome trauma, reframe their thinking, and develop emotional intelligence. Case Management and Care Coordination, which provides personalized support in connecting youth to essential resources like housing, food, therapy, and workforce development. Peer Support Groups, fostering a sense of community, accountability, and personal growth through culturally relevant mentorship and guidance. Every donation helps us offer youth and young adults, ages 13-25, a chance to escape cycles of violence and poverty and build violence-free, hopeful futures. This campaign is our official launch?to raise awareness, build partnerships, and secure the funds needed to continue this life-changing work.
