FOCAL PLANE ARRAY SCIENTIST The Research, Advanced Prototyping, and Innovative Design (RAPID) Laboratory within the Electro-Optical Infrared Systems (EOIS) business is responsible for all materials, Focal Plane Array (FPA) and camera research to advance EOIS technology with government and industry partners. Selected withheld and strategic efforts are also executed in the RAPID Lab to accelerate development. The Scientist II we are looking for will be an integral part of new product development in advanced infrared sensors. This person will interface and work closely with other team members representing a wide range of disciplines and subject matter experts, including device physics, material science, readout integrated circuits, device characterization, electro-optical test engineering, electronics and system design. The candidate will be involved in the development of new infrared focal plane arrays, new Avalanche PhotoDiode based lidar sensors and 3D imaging systems. Duties will include device testing, data analysis, report generation and oral presentations. PRINCIPAL EOIR SYSTEMS ENGINEER Interact with other team members representing a wide range of disciplines to develop complex Electro-Optical Systems. You will work with customers to define system requirements and operating concepts, develop the systems architecture to meet the requirements, and guide the design team to execute the systems architecture. OPTICS TEST ENGINEER Self-motivated contributor, working with engineering groups to develop and deliver optical product testing solutions for volume manufacturing. This position plans and executes the test development activities of assigned programs. Functions/Responsibilities: Develop DC, RF, and other Optical test systems, providing operational procedures required to transition these stations from low volume to high volume work centers Assists in developing technical roadmaps for new product test development, identifying risk areas associated with different roadmap options, summarizing advantages/ disadvantages. Ensure test station capability and qualification plans are executed and reported as modifications/upgrades are implemented. Defines test project goals, risks, costs/resources, schedule, and potential solutions that may be found. Summarizes test project results, including impacts to product yield, quality, throughput, and cost. Cross-functionally team with Designers, Engineering and Manufacturing teams to support new product introduction. Create, conduct, & analyze Design of Experiments (DOE) for development and production activities. Conduct audits, benchmarking & drive best practice methodologies to proactively prevent quality excursions as the technology ramps. Supervisory responsibility for Engineers or Technicians may be required. The responsibilities as defined are intended to serve as a general guideline for this position. Associates may be asked to perform additional tasks depending on strengths and capabilities. Required Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in microelectronic / microsystem / optical design or manufacturing SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or other engineering design, modeling or simulation software is desirable. Demonstrated hands-on experience with test development projects and volume manufacturing, based on a thorough understanding of the equipment and materials that are used in the semiconductor and photonics industries. Opto-electronic industry experience desired; preferably direct packaging/assembly/test experience. Experience with PAM4 testing is highly desired – if not PAM-4, then a similar technology with transferrable technical skills is a possibility. Candidates must have a strong understanding of statistics, process control and FMEA methodologies. Must have experience with writing of test specifications, reports and production documentation. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in relating to both internal and external customers. Expertise in Minitab/SAS-JMP/similar data analysis package, proficiency with MS Office expected. DIRECTOR OF OPTOELECTRONICS MANUFACTURING Oversee the entire manufacturing process, ensuring the efficient and high-quality production of microelectronics and optoelectronics assemblies. At the core of the optoelectronics assemblies are “optical engines,” consisting of optics, electronics, and optoelectronic devices. Responsibilities: Production Oversight: Lead and supervise the manufacturing team to ensure seamless production operations. Manage a local staff of functional managers which report to you and other managers which report solid line to functional heads in other locations and dotted line to you. These dotted line responsibilities could include test development, quality, HR, and other functions. Implement and optimize manufacturing processes with a focus on efficiency and quality. Site Oversight: Drive site leadership team to excel in all site functions; some with solid line relations and others with dotted, as noted above. Microelectronics Packaging Expertise: Leverage in-depth knowledge or microelectronics, including flip chip, wire bonding, die attach, and thermal bonding of wafers. Oversee and guide the team in the execution of complex microelectronics processes. Semiconductor Operations Management: Utilize semiconductor processing experience to streamline operations and enhance production capabilities. Act as a key contributor to strategic planning for semiconductor-related projects. Quality Control: Implement and maintain rigorous quality control measures to ensure the delivery of high-quality products. Collaborate with the quality assurance team to address and resolve any production issues promptly. Optical Engine Integration: (Preferred) Leverage optical engine background to contribute to projects involving optical technologies. Required/Preferred Experience: Experience in Microelectronics or Semiconductor manufacturing with experience in Operations or Plant management. Extensive & Proven experience in microelectronics packaging, optoelectronics, flip chip, wire bonding, die attach, thermal bonding of wafers, and semiconductor processing of both logic IC’s and optoelectronic IC’s such as lasers, detectors, and physical layer ASIC’s. Background in semiconductor operations management and knowledge of optical engine technology will be considered a significant advantage. Prior experience in semiconductor processing and semiconductor operations management. Familiarity with optical engine technology is a plus. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
