A beloved father, husband, friend, esteemed attorney, and founder of The Perecman Firm, David’s presence was larger than life, and his absence is deeply felt by all who knew him. Born and raised in Forest Hills, New York, David was the son of Holocaust survivors—a heritage that profoundly shaped his outlook on life. His resilience and empathy defined his career and inspired his fierce dedication to justice. For over 40 years, David built The Perecman Firm into a powerhouse of exceptional attorneys, whose skill and commitment reflect the values and principles he instilled in all of us. David was a renowned personal injury trial lawyer who secured nearly a billion dollars for his clients throughout his career. He achieved some of the most significant and groundbreaking personal injury and construction accident verdicts and settlements in New York State’s history, most recently a $19,000,000 settlement in 2024, alongside his son, Zachary Perecman, and Steven Dorfman. Beyond the courtroom, David was a respected leader in the legal community, serving as an officer on the New York State Trial Lawyers Association’s (NYSTLA) Board of Directors, the former chair of NYSTLA’s Labor Law Committee, as well as championing reforms such as Avonte’s Law. David took immense pride in the team he cultivated—a team capable of achieving remarkable results for our clients, carrying forward the passion, skill, and dedication he demonstrated throughout his career.
