关于我们
Our Vision Patients and stakeholders are heard, inspired, and empowered to co-develop patient-centered research (PCR). Our Mission The PATIENTS Program partners with patients and care providers to answer questions about the best treatment options to improve health and quality of life. We engage people from all communities, especially those from underserved and minority populations, in every step of the patient-centered research (PCR) process. Through our collective efforts, we create an effective learning health care community. We listen to our patients’ voices so that we ask relevant and meaningful questions. We align research priorities with the values of patients and communities. We transform research to make it more relevant and patient-centered. We train patients, stakeholders, and researchers to become co-developers of PCR.

Dr. Patrick Gee serves on our Advisory Board and is a PATIENTS Professors Academy graduate. In this short clip, he talks about the importance of reaching out to and partnering with communities to co-develop health research. Through the PATIENTS Going National Initiative, we want to replicate the authentic experience of the program's 10-Step Framework to co-develop more patient-centered research in communities nationwide. We plan to teach those communities how they can do community/academic research partnerships to advance and transform research. We are looking to hear from leaders or obtain contacts from the Black/African-American; cancer; cardiovascular disease; community clinics, health systems and hospitals, disability, mental health, older adults/seniors, and reproductive health. Thank you to sponsors AstraZeneca, Bayer, and Novo Nordisk for their support. To connect with us, please email us at [email protected]. #community #research #HealthEquity #CommunityEngagement #patientsvoices

Paris Barnes, M.S., Senior Training Specialist with the PATIENTS Program was recently named as a member of the Baltimore City Mayor's Office Opioid Restitution Advisory Board. Congratulations, Paris! “Growing up, I never understood why my absent parent chose drugs over me," she said. "It was not until I became an adult and began to study substance use that I accepted it as a disorder and had empathy for his struggle. Imagine wanting to stop something, but you keep chasing the initial feeling of thrill that you once had. That is what he was doing and it all kicked off from a string of injuries, curiosity, and prescribed opioids. This role means I have a voice in how the funds will be spent to potentially save lives. Although he passed away and our relationship was not traditional, I am proud to be able to try to help others in my situation work on cultivating healing and offer resources.” Read the press release here: https://lnkd.in/e753dUXX
