We agree. Leveraging your community and staff who are already committed to your kids and schools is an awesome way to grow the talent pipeline.
It just makes sense to ensure that paraprofessionals have options to progress toward degrees and licensure while they are working in classrooms every day with licensed teachers. Let's maintain commitments to expand no and low cost options for paraprofessionals even if that means we "lose them" from their roles as paras. Consider all that is gained! “Throughout schools in South Dakota, paraprofessionals provide invaluable support to teachers as they educate students in the classroom,” said Secretary of Education Joe Graves. “Their experience in the classroom and their clear commitment to students make them ideal teacher candidates. This program allows them to continue earning a living while earning a valuable teacher certification.” https://lnkd.in/eARBaf2g
