Last Thursday was quite a day for NYC youth development! It was our honor at PASE to support the State of the Sector of Youth Development Conference and to participate in so many thought-provoking conversations about how to ensure that our incredible sector and its workforce thrives. As our CEO Alison Overseth would say, youth development's superpower is its workforce. Coming together to collectively listen, reflect, and dream about how to better support that workforce, including through creating strong career pathways, was incredibly energizing. Thank you to the other members of the Collaborative for Advancing Youth Development for sharing your wisdom through such great panels, keynotes, and workshops, and for your continuous work and innovation to enhance our sector. Thank you to everyone who made the State of the Sector of Youth Development Conference: Building Pathways to Thriving Careers an incredible day of learning, sharing and community building. We are so grateful to the members of the Collaborative for Advancing Youth Development, St. Francis College, and every speaker, panelist, and participant for lending their time, energy, and expertise to such an impactful event. We hope the insights and connections shared during the conference will strengthen career pathways for youth development professionals and shape the future of our sector. As Marc Fernandes emphasized in a call to action, "a strong workforce is built on the voices of its people. When we listen, we create space for growth, learning, and real change. No matter your role in youth development, this work requires that we show up daily with a commitment to learning, evolving, and lifting others as we climb. Whether you are a direct youth worker or an executive leader, our responsibility is the same: to elevate those around us, to hear and amplify their voices, and to build a future where every person has the support they need to thrive."
