?? Project Spotlight: Socium Coatings’ Work on UGA’s Black-Diallo-Miller Residence Hall (2022) ?? Reflecting on 2022, we’re proud to have been part of the University of Georgia’s Black-Diallo-Miller Residence Hall project—the first new-build residence hall on campus since 2013. This remarkable six-story, 120,500 sq. ft. facility honors the legacy of Harold A. Black, Mary Blackwell Diallo, and Kerry Rushin Miller, UGA’s first African American students to enroll as freshmen and earn their undergraduate degrees. ??? Key features of the new residence hall include: ? 525 beds in flexible, double-occupancy rooms with customizable layouts ??? ? Large windows, built-in closets, and individualized climate control in every room ??? ? Privacy-enhanced community bathrooms in each hall/wing ?? ? Shared lounges, study areas, and community kitchens to promote academic success and personal growth ?? ? An exterior courtyard and laundry areas to enrich student life ?? Socium provided the Painting and Fabric Panel scope of work for Turner Construction Company and BECK ARCHITECTURE, playing a part in bringing this thoughtful and impactful project to life. We’re proud to look back on our work at The Whitley, where in 2019, Socium completed the painting and wallcovering renovation for the temporary check-in and reception areas. Our team coordinated smoothly with other trades, working in phases to accommodate ongoing operations, events, and guest needs. ??? High-end finishes were installed to ensure the guest experience remained exceptional throughout the renovation. In 2023, we had the privilege of collaborating with Turner Construction Company and Elkus Manfredi Architects on the renovation of the 37th & 38th Floors off Peachtree Street for Boston Consulting Group. This 47,900 sq. ft. project featured top-tier commercial finishes, including Wood Veneer Wallcovering and Scuffmaster Coatings, bringing both sophistication and durability to the space. ??? Socium’s team completed this renovation with precision, delivering outstanding results while working within a tight timeline and schedule. ? We’re proud to reflect on our work with Turner Construction Company and Torre Design Consortium LTD at Zoo Atlanta’s new Rollins Animal Health Center, where we contributed painting and high-performance coating applications to help bring this state-of-the-art facility to life. ???? The facility includes: ? Dedicated areas for laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, treatment, and surgery ?? ? A CT scanner and specialized animal holding dens ? Five animal quarantine dens with access for care team members ? A food preparation kitchen and dedicated food prep areas ? Office and conference spaces for the veterinary team ???? ? A necropsy suite ? Second-floor dorm rooms, restrooms, and laboratory spaces for overnight stays or visiting colleagues ???
