In today’s polarized political climate, many feel silenced: fearing the consequences of speaking out. For those in minority groups, the risk of backlash looms in every sphere of life—threatening careers, friendships, and future opportunities. The unsettling reality? In the absence of dissent, the majority drowns the voices of reason, leaving truth to be nothing but a whispered suggestion. Join us on November 15th for a lecture and seminar with Dr. Khalil Habib, where we will dive into the tyranny of the majority and the critical limitations needed to protect individual voices. Using Alexis de Tocqueville’s seminal work, “Democracy in America,” we’ll explore how democratic ideals can sometimes smother the very freedoms they promise to uphold, and what must be done to ensure this doesn't happen. Refreshments and copies of Tocqueville's work will be provided. Stand up and share your voice, lest others speak for you.
