Congratulations to Dr. Chris Brooks for his appointment as vice chair of the immunotherapy committee of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology - AAAAI. Dr. Brooks is a leader in the field of intralymphatic immunotherapy at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, and we appreciate his leadership at a national level. Dr. Brooks will work alongside new committee chair Dr. Kristina James who takes a leadership handoff from Dr. Amber Patterson, MD who led the committee first as vice chair and then as chair for the last 4 years.

Excited to share the opportunities I have had to share my research, contribute to the advancement of community based science, and learn more about existing research. I attended the Ohio State Clinical and Translational Science Institute Annual Science Meeting and learned new advancements in clinical research as well had the chance to share my own research project. In addition, I shared the same opportunities at the American Heart Association Research Reception, Franklin County Public Health Community Health Action Plan Summit, and look forward to learning and presenting at the The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Department of Internal Medicine Science Symposium.

Researchers at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center-James Cancer Hospital & Solove Research Institute led a global study that identified molecular predictors of survival among Black patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The study suggests a need to modify current AML risk layers by including ancestry-specific genetic factors and testing those in clinical trials.

Dr. Kevin Martin, orthopedic surgeon at #OSUWexMed, is one of the few surgeons in the nation skilled in arthroscopic procedures on the foot. These can repair the small joints of the foot and ankle through the smallest of incisions, using tiny tools guided by an LED camera only 2 millimeters in size — smaller than a pencil eraser.
