Researchers at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center-James Cancer Hospital & Solove Research Institute led a global study that identified molecular predictors of survival among Black patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The study suggests a need to modify current AML risk layers by including ancestry-specific genetic factors and testing those in clinical trials.

These can repair the small joints of the foot and ankle through the smallest of incisions, using tiny tools guided by an LED camera only 2 millimeters in size — smaller than a pencil eraser.

Although colorectal cancer rates in the U.S. have slowly declined over the last decade, the incidence is alarmingly growing in people under the age of 50. While we don’t fully understand the reason for this, the Colorectal Cancer Center at the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center-James Cancer Hospital & Solove Research Institute has established specialized programs to identify these patients, decrease the risk of colorectal cancer formation and provide needed services.

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical visited Shanahan Middle School for their third annual careers in healthcare exploration event, with nurses and surge techs presenting four interactive stations for 6th grade students that aligned with their study of the structures and functions of living systems. Over the last few decades, the demand for and use of a holistic approach to health and wellness called integrative medicine or integrative health has increased substantially. The approach combines conventional and complementary medicine to care for the whole person, using techniques like mindfulness, meditation, acupuncture, ayurveda and yoga. All of these and more are offered and taught at the Center for Integrative Health at #OSUWexMed. Understanding the power and importance of this work, Jim and Christina Grote, recently committed $10 million to support the center.
