Should you reach out to somone who you have no connection with? In other words, is connecting with a cold contact a good idea or is it just a waste of time? The answer is - it depends. REAL prospects are almost 100% of the time warm- meaning they have some sort of connection to your organization and has donated to a similar cause before. However, if you know of someone who has donated to similar causes to yours in the past but maybe you have no connection with, reaching out can be worth a try. You have a better chance of getting a gift if you ask than if you don't.
