The NJMCC wholeheartedly supports the passage of the Wadee Resolution. This resolution is a crucial step in affirming that "the United States has zero tolerance for hate crimes, Islamophobia, anti-Semitism, and anti-Palestinian and anti-Arab discrimination" (Wadee Resolution, S.Res. 847, 118th Cong., 2023-2024). As we honor the life of Wadee Alfayoumi, it is more important than ever that we collectively speak out against intolerance and commit to building a more inclusive and equitable society.
Senate Unanimously Passes the Wadee Resolution The Wadee Resolution was drafted by the Muslim Civic Coalition in partnership with Senator Durbin, Senator Duckworth, and Congresswoman Ramirez has just unanimously passed the US Senate. The Wadee Resolution honors Wadee AlFayoumi, a Palestinian American boy, who lost his life due to dehumanizing political rhetoric and false narratives of the Palestinian people and due to Islamophobia. The Wadee Resolution uplifts his proud Palestinian heritage as a powerful and beautiful community that represents the best of our nation. The Wadee Resolution honors the Palestinian Kaffiyeh and all symbols of dress that represent one’s faith and culture. The Wadee Resolution reaffirms that all children from all faiths have a right to live in safety and thrive as Americans. Wadee AlFayoumi and Palestinian Americans were placed in the US Congressional Record as symbols of resilience and pride.
