Reimagining, Celebrating and Investing in Black Girls and Women
关于我们
The Nia Project Kansas City champions success for Black girls and women in the Greater Kansas City area. We support projects that build confidence, capacity and opportunity through programming, partnerships and advocacy. Since 2018 we have hosted our signature program, "Black Women Get Fit" A Health & Wellness experience for Black Women. BWGF has two primary goals, 1. We identify Black women owned businesses that have expertise in physical fitness, mental wellness or faith-based topics to lead workshops for the community. 2. We introduce a variety of health & wellness experiences to help address the constant challenge of staying focused and committed to your wellness goals! In addition to BWGF, we offer a wide array of community support including: * Thank A Teacher Campaign * The Beloved Community - A Black Nonprofit Resource Directory * The 1st Annual Black Nonprofit Leadership Symposium * Our Collective Work * Contending for Children Initiative focused on literacy & mental wellness for youth and more.... We invite you to learn more about our work and join us!

On Thursday, October 31st Beloved! A Resale Boutique for Women closed its doors. We are calling it a "Pause" and will spend time in review while we explore options. We had an incredible experience and appreciate all of our fantastic customers and especially those pictured here with their final purchases. We set out to provide a retail entrepreneurial experience for rising 7th - 9th grade girls and created so much more than that. We even made a little money! As a matter of fact, Oct 31st was our 2nd highest sales day. Kansas City and out of town friends new & old, we thank you! Stay tuned for what's next....

We just LOVE our customers! We have so many great stories to share, but this one was pretty cool... This customer, visiting from Chicago (she is a return customer) fell in love with one of our St. John knits. While preparing to finalize her purchase, Shay's earrings caught her attention. Because we have awesome associates, she noticed her interest and shared the story behind Shay's Closet. Letting her know that Shay was 12 years old and our youngest entrepreneur and that she started making earrings from her grandmothers broken jewelry. The customer was immediately smitten, and told us how much she loves supporting children and told us she would buy them all! YES! All 19 pair on hand! We told her how excited Shay would be and if she'd let us take her photo. She obliged! Thank you Ms. Chicago! We can't wait to tell Shay! Irene Garrett Watson

As excited as we are as we approach our biggest event of the year, 350 registered guests, 2 powerhouse speakers, 18 wellness experts, all coming together to celebrate, uplift and support Black women, I ask your understanding as I share this HEAVY post. Each year we select a theme that carries a message of transformation. This year, we selected "Be The Healing" to highlight & encourage self care, because we know when we are good, our families and communities benefit. And then, July 21st happened and VP Kamala Harris became the Presidential nominee and we had to find a way to recognize this moment & decided to integrate it into our Tshirt design. Freedom is a significant part of her campaigns messaging... book bans, reproductive rights, democracy... and then Tuesday, Sept 25th at 6:10 pm Marcellus Williams was murdered by the state. The word takes on a whole other meaning. Lord have mercy on us!

What's the saying? All good things have to come to and end... in our case, a brief pause! Beloved! is a summer popup, and was created to provide a hands on entrepreneurial experience for girls. It has been and is so much more than that...stay tuned for more updates as we wind down. More really cute items to share.. especially for tall & plus size women. Everything is on sale! We are open Mon-Sat 10-6pm and Sunday 12-5 Food Court Level.
