We are proud to see Agati Library expanding their activities at Yego Center in Musanze. With NAF’s unrestricted funding, they were able to get some of the new books and the setting up of the space, and fund the grand opening event

We love to see our grabtees thrive!!
A few days ago, our founder Kafilat Olanike Olanrewaju-Akintomiwa received a call on the Foundation's line. The caller introduced themselves and mentioned that they saw the Foundation's banner for the Free ICT Centre. They had a request: they are a group of about 3 to 5 learners who are taught and guided virtually by a tutor who lives far away and that they also self-learn using resources on the internet (videos etc). However, they only have one laptop, which has started having issues. They asked if they could use the ICT centre and what the charge would be. Our Founder Kafilat Olanike Olanrewaju-Akintomiwa asked some questions to understand more and discussed with the caller. She explained that the ICT centre is completely FREE and OPEN to EVERYONE, thanks to The New Africa Fund She invited the caller to meet me on Monday for further discussion. The caller was excited and thanked both the Foundation and our sponsors. Today, they started their classes, and we are thrilled. Thank you again to The New Africa Fund for supporting our work at KOA Education Foundation. The KOA Education Foundation ICT Centre provides free access to technology and learning resources, which is crucial for learners and those with limited resources. This initiative aligns with the Foundation’s goals of promoting education and digital literacy, empowering individuals, and fostering community development. By offering these services, we help bridge the digital divide and support lifelong learning opportunities for everyone. On June 5th, 2024, Jean Claude Muhire advisor to the president of the New Africa Fund (NAF), visited HEREAFTER GHANA (MY HEREAFTER PROJECT) one of our VP Grantees. Known for providing medical insurance to vulnerable children and women, earning great respect from local leaders. Despite having a small office and limited resources, the project thrives on the dedication of its 15 professional volunteers, 5 interns, and 5 active board . Their unique approach on fundraising, has ensured that they strive on local individual donations. So far for the first half of 2024, they successfully raised over $10,000 leveraging strong community ties, especially during Ramadan. Their impressive impact on the community also secured them a donation from the Chief of Tamale, promising a land that will host income generating activities to further the impact of Myhereafter Project. At the New Africa Fund, we are still committed to help MyHereafter Project and our other grantees grow and achieve more.

Scholarship Program(GSP), we are glad to see these young ladies explore available opportunities to have hands-on experiences via professional internships. TCHAMIELABA Esso- Mamréou Nicole, is one of these young ladies, currently in her first year of program evaluation and project development. She has pursued and finished her 6 weeks professional internship at Sotouboua City Hall. She shares her experience:" We have five departments in this city hall, namely: the secretariat, accounting, civil registry, technical service, and the reading and cultural activity center. We spent time in each of these departments to learn about their activities and the roles they play. Thanks to this internship, we were able to put into practice what we learned during our courses (theory), such as how a city hall employee welcomes a client, the work procedures, and the conditions under which these activities are carried out. What was taught to us, we have now seen and practiced. My sincere thanks to our department and the GSP program for the opportunity and support they provide us."

Our highlight of the week is the Association for Human Rights in Ethiopia (AHRE) Advocating for human rights in Ethiopia, working with victims of torture and GBV to help with their rehabilitation . They are part of the NAF’s human rights grantees and we hope to see their organization grow and have a bigger impact in a current climate that is not easy for human rights advocates
