An important part of our New 42 Youth Corps program focuses on enhancing personal and professional skills of students in the program. Earlier this month, our Youth Corps participated in a professional development workshop where they learned more about creating their resumes and writing cover letters and practiced their job interview skills!

Yesterday, our staff participated in a Wellness Fair to rest and rejuvenate after the first month of the year. Everyone had the opportunity to get a massage, participate in a group yoga class, visit with health and wellness spots in the city and play with Iggy the puppy! 🧘🐶 Thank you to everyone who organized the event and joined us!

In addition to on-the-job responsibilities, professional development workshops are an important part of the New Victory Usher Corps experience. These workshops are dedicated to enhancing their personal and professional skills. Last week, our New 42 College Corps participated in a College Success workshop, where the group discussed their questions about college and wrote goals in the form of superlatives. We’re excited the group got to learn more about how they can continue to thrive in college!

In today's My First Years at New 42, board member Lynne Biggar shares what she loves about being a part of the New 42 community. "I joined the Board of New 42 in 2006. I was introduced to then-CEO Cora Cahan through my colleague at American Express Timothy J. McClimon; they knew each other from prior roles in the non-profit arts sector. I met Cora in her office and saw the magic of what happens in that building first hand with numerous Broadway shows in rehearsal and the New 42 staff abuzz about the new season and their NYC school outreach programs. I attended several shows at the New Victory and saw the stars in the eyes of kids as they watched ensembles from around the world dedicated to children’s theater. I was fortunate to join as a Trustee shortly thereafter and am proud to continue to serve today. Watching and supporting New 42’s current CEO and President Russell Granet lead the organization through the pandemic and then define strategies for success and growth now and in the future has been a good kind of hard work. No one at New 42 rests on their laurels; everyone is so passionately dedicated to bringing arts to kids and kids to arts that it is infectious. And as our current Chairman Fiona Rudin steps down from that role and Henry Tisch steps into it, I know we are well positioned for a bright future."

The New 42 Board of Directors has elected Henry Tisch as Chairman of the Board, effective July 1, 2025. Tisch, who has served on the New 42 Board since 2020, is a Tony Award-winning producer and co-founder of Key to the City Productions, a multimedia production company. He will succeed Fiona Rudin, who is stepping down from the position of Chairman on June 30, 2025 after serving for twelve years. Rudin first joined the Board in 2004 and had previously served as Vice Chair from 2008-2012. She will remain a member of the Board. “The contributions that Fiona has made to the organization and the Board cannot be overstated,” said Russell Granet, President & CEO of New 42. “Her inspiring leadership has driven the organization to new heights. On behalf of the Board of Directors, we are incredibly grateful and indebted to her for all that she has done to help grow New 42, our programs, and our reach. We all look forward to working closely with Henry as he takes the reins as a confident leader for the next generation.”

New 42 recently organized its first Volunteer Day, giving staff the opportunity to connect with our Times Square community and make a difference. For the inaugural event, our staff volunteered at Encore Community Services, “Broadway’s Longest Running Act of Loving Care.” Staff signed up for shifts that included meal delivery, meal service, and more. We look forward to more opportunities where we can give back to our community in and around the Times Square area!
