“I feel a personal stake because I got them to agree to give up their nuclear weapons, and #none of them believe that ru*sia would have pulled this stunt if Ukraine still had those weapons.” — Bill Clinton, 42nd President of the United States (1993–2001) And here’s your daily reminder: The Budapest Memorandum ??In 1994, Ukraine gave up the #third-largest nuclear arsenal in the #world for security assurances. The #US, #UK, and ru*sia guaranteed Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Fast forward to 2014: ru*sia tore up that agreement, occupied Crimea, and ignited the war in Donbas (Eastern Ukraine). ??The world watched passively as Ukraine fought to defend its borders. Then came the full-scale invasion in 2022—ru*sia’s brutal assault, breaking every promise made (Ukraine signed the Minsk Agreements, held almost 200 #rounds of negotiations with russia) And now, the US, once responsible for defending Ukraine’s sovereignty, is siding with rusia in ways that undermine Ukraine’s fight for #survival. Ukraine isn’t just fighting for freedom; it’s fighting to #remind the world of the promises made—and shattered. ?? By liking, sharing, and creating content about Ukraine, you help spread the truth. It costs you nothing—but for Ukrainians, it can mean survival. Awareness saves lives.

Here's how democracy and the rule of law can be restored quickly and peacefully to the United States: Article III Section 3 of the United States Constitution defines TREASON as adhering to the enemy or giving them aid and comfort. The current administration has ordered to stop the U.S. cyber offensive against Russia. It has halted both military aid and satellite imagery intelligence for Ukraine, putting in danger not just the Ukrainian people, but also ALL of our allies in Europe. It is threatening to revoke the asylum status of Ukrainian refugees in the United States, lining them up for deportation. At the Oval Office, millions witnessed on the news how the present administration disrespectfully berated Ukraine's war-hero president. And at the United Nations, the present administration clearly aligned itself with communist Russia. All of that is more than adequate evidence as grounds for Treason. Article III Section 3 of the United States Constitution specifies that ONLY TWO witnesses are required. The best of whom would be all four living former U.S. presidents - Biden, Obama, Bush, and Clinton. Generals Mark Milley himself and Charles Q. Brown Jr., who are both former Chairmen of the Joint Chiefs, as well as the Judge Advocate General officers who were unjustly removed from office, could also serve as alternate witnesses. These respected leaders, as witnesses, will have very broad support from the American people. The incumbent may try to order the U.S. military to quell protests, but inevitably, our servicemen and women will abide by their Oath to uphold and defend the U.S. Constitution. Whoever leads the United States next can turn the tables on Russia. He or she can have Xi Jinping sign an agreement to leave Taiwan alone, respect borders of its PEACEFUL neighbors, and completely withdraw from the West Philippine Sea. In so doing China's trade and standing with the United States and the EU will be restored. But even after all that is achieved, America must immediately take steps to update its laws (e.g. forbid unidentified election contributions, remove influence of the executive from selecting supreme court justices, enforce balanced media exposure during elections, revamp or abolish the electoral college, conduct intensive background checks, etc.) to permanently prevent anyone who is unfit for the role (or is potentially a foreign agent), from serving. The United States should also force the revision of U.N. laws, to immediately expel and forbid trade with any member if it invades another country. Then one can expect Putin to be removed by Russians themselves. This is the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave. We don't abide by kings, tyrants, or wanna-be dictators. #treason #traitor #autocracy #oligarchy #usconstitution #usmilitary ('Fair Use' of images is for Educational Purposes.)

Former President of Poland Lech Wa??sa wrote the following letter to Trump. Your Excellency, Mr. President, We watched your conversation with President Volodymyr Zelensky with fear and distaste. It is insulting that you expect Ukraine to show gratitude for U.S. material aid in its fight against russia. Gratitude is owed to the heroic Ukrainian soldiers who have been shedding their blood for over 11 years to defend the free world’s values and their homeland, attacked by Putin’s russia. How can the leader of a country symbolizing the free world fail to recognize this? The Oval Office atmosphere during this conversation reminded us of interrogations by the Security Services and Communist court debates. Back then, prosecutors and judges, acting on behalf of the communist political police, told us they held all the power while we had none. They demanded we stop our activities, arguing that innocent people suffered because of us. They stripped us of our freedoms for refusing to cooperate or express gratitude for our oppression. We are shocked that President Zelensky was treated similarly. History shows that when the U.S. distanced itself from democratic values and its European allies, it ultimately endangered itself. President Wilson understood this in 1917 when the U.S. joined World War I. President Roosevelt knew it after Pearl Harbor in 1941, realizing that defending America meant fighting in both the Pacific and Europe alongside nations attacked by the Third Reich. Without President Reagan and U.S. financial support, the Soviet empire’s collapse would not have been possible. Reagan recognized the suffering of millions in Soviet russia and its conquered nations, including thousands of political prisoners. His greatness lay in his unwavering stance, calling the USSR an “Empire of Evil” and confronting it decisively. We won, and today, his statue stands in Warsaw, facing the U.S. Embassy. Mr. President, military and financial aid cannot be equated with the blood shed for Ukraine’s independence and the freedom of Europe and the world. Human life is priceless. Gratitude is due to those who sacrifice their blood and freedom—something self-evident to us, former political prisoners of the communist regime under Soviet russia. We urge the U.S. to uphold the 1994 Budapest Memorandum, which established a direct obligation to defend Ukraine’s borders in exchange for giving up nuclear weapons. These guarantees are unconditional—nowhere do they suggest such aid is a mere economic transaction. Signed, Lech Wa??sa, former political prisoner, President of Poland

Be Careful, Mr President. There is a fine line between getting Europeans to do more for their own defence and destroying the Transatlantic Relationship! The latter would be the greatest act of self-harm since you Americans were expelled from the British Empire for uppity behaviour (and poor spelling). Read more...

I've thought long and hard about this one, and this is my take on the fallout from the Coroner's inquiry into Gunner Jaysley Beck's tragic death. As an erstwhile Gender Advocate for the Royal Navy and UK Ministry of Defence, and an ally of the Naval Servicewomen's Network, I felt it right to articulate my thoughts. Geopolitics | Information Operations | High Level International Defence Engagement | Security Capacity Building | Operationalising Human Security

I recommend this book as a useful primer for those engaged in making future predictions about global politics or geopolitical modelling. I sensed it charted the conceptual clash between cyclical history believers & those who see civilisation on more a linear progression, giving practical vignettes and stories, for the reader to decide where they sit on this philosophical question. Globalisation has bought some material benefits, but at the expense of cherished identities, unfair competition, & a lean towards authoritarianism over democracy & centralisation of power, contrary to the expectations of early globalists. Relevant to today, it charts how China's welcomed rise as world factory has soured, through systemic IP theft & strategic acquisitions, leading to the suspicion & fear driving today’s US foreign Policy & the misunderstanding of this between the US & Europeans, who in reality occupy different geopolitical orbits, though they sometimes struggle to discern this. Add to this mix - climate change, the disruption from automation & AI removing more jobs, & companies liabilities spanning multiple countries so allegiances are opaque, then protectionism through tariffs undermining fairness - & you have monumental challenges ahead. For the US, their response to this is the brutal preparatory policy reset now, for the war they see near inevitable [if they don’t act now], while Europeans go for a cautious incremental approach. This book effectively tackles these complex global issues by weaving personal stories of influential & ordinary individuals impacted by globalisation, via various key case studies, most notably Gazprom's Nord Stream story & the global Huawei 5G battle. Could say so much more but LinkedIn doesn’t enable me to do so! My last reflections, are the US triggering what they most fear? Are Europeans reacting too slowly, akin to the boiling frog analogy, & are both blocs running head long into a trap, or taking sensible actions to avoid one [or is it just a mirage of their own making]? The era of comfortable complacency is over. Europe’s moment of reckoning has arrived. US Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth’s comments on European defence yesterday should have been no surprise. This moment has been years in the making. Europe has spent decades assuming the US would always underwrite its security, but that assumption has crumbled. Defence spending must rise, but money alone won’t fix the problem. Europe needs to rebuild its industrial base, invest in skills, and foster a public understanding that defence is the foundation of our economy and way of life. Above all, we must not do what our enemies want: fracture NATO and drift apart from the US. Read my latest article ?? https://lnkd.in/eVxAUq_8

  • The dits that badge could spin…!

OBJET TROUVE looking through old boxes of papers over the weekend i found an item of absolutely powerful emotive impact. Tucked away was the RN cap badge worn by my father while serving at sea throughout WWII. All officers wore their caps most of the time when active, the RN crown & Anchor came on a fabric ribbon so one could be used for sea service, the other for more formal occasions ashore or inspections in harbour. This cap badge, worn on an open superstructure at sea, would have seen the mining of HMS Belfast, the Norwegian campaign, the disablement of the French Fleet at M-E-K, the Med campaign against the Italian Fleet, the first massed wolfpack convoy attack in the Atlantic, twelve Russian convoys, the nightly battles in the western approaches in 1944 ahead of D-day. Now it will go to a Museum, an extraordinary scrap of history rediscovered, six years at sea, in time for the 80th anniversary of the War that changed life forever.
