Housing still leads the #CPI and drives inflation. Data shows housing's impact will not go down until the end of 2024 or beyond. The Federal Reserve Board should cut interest rates. Additionally, #Congress and The White House must advance a fair and affordable housing package to provide relief that everyday individuals and families deserve. It is not too late to act. The $150 billion for housing in the #BuildBackBetterAct is now in CONGRESSWOMAN Maxine Waters' Housing Crisis Response Act. The bill includes $10 billion to support nearly 300,000 new First-Generation homebuyers in urban, suburban, and rural communities overcome a lack of a downpayment. These creditworthy potential homebuyers are unable to tap into the bank of mom and dad as prior federal housing policies excluded their communities from opportunity. This will be critical to ensure equitable access to homeownership if the Fed cuts interest rates. The legislation includes necessary funding for local fair housing organizations. The 2024 Fair Housing Trends Report by the National Fair Housing Alliance shows that housing discrimination complaints increased, and private nonprofit fair housing organizations processed over 75 percent of the complaints. Also, the bill includes crucial support for public housing, Housing Choice Vouchers, and other important rental assistance programs. Finally, the Neighborhood Homes Investment Act with fair housing principles can help to create 500,000 new or rehabilitated homes in communities hardest-hit by the Great Recession that have yet to recover. These actions together will help ensure no community is left behind. https://lnkd.in/eHhZq5iq
