There are quite a few celebrations this year for the centennial of the first flight around the world. Bob Bates and Barry Payne are celebrating by closely re-enacting the flight in a Piper Comanche! We are grateful for the many comments from Highline Public Schools families who visited us last Tuesday and Wednesday. We know that partnerships are key to making these types of opportunities work, and we appreciate PTAs, local organizations and others who spread the word. Thank you too to our community of donors, who made it possible to provide free admission for over 650 students, teachers and families. Because of you, we were able to offer our local students a fun and engaging learning environment for those two days. We’re happy that the students, teachers and staff of Highline Public Schools are back in their buildings and off to an amazing year of discovery! Our co-founder Michelle L.D. Hanlon had the honor to present at the Museum of Flight yesterday on the topic of "Who Owns Outer Space." Per the Outer Space Treaty, space is the "Province of all humankind." What does that mean? It means that we all have an obligation and responsibility to assure that we explore and utilize the vast resources of space in a sustainable way. Understanding how to behave in space starts with (of course) safeguarding our most precious resource: our cultural heritage. We owe it to our common ancestors who walked across the plains of Laetoli Tanzania, and we owe it to the future of humanity. #ProtectTheBootprints

They provided guidance and mentorship for over 80 local high schoolers in this year’s Private Pilot Ground School at The Museum of Flight. Congrats to the graduates of our 2024 Private Pilot Ground School! This free program gives high schoolers a chance to gain the knowledge needed to pass the FAA private pilot written exam—and earn some college credit along the way.
