Friends, we so need your support during this giving season. 2024 was the most difficult year we had on The Muddy Pug. We faced personal setbacks and major life changes. Significant sources of support and funding evaporated overnight. We tightened our belts, and did everything we could think of to manage our day to day operations more efficiently. Yet it still takes over $40,000 a year to run the Sanctuary. Our hay supply costs $15,000 a year. Additional feed and bedding costs over $7,500 a year. We average $5,000- $7,000 in regular vet/farrier costs annually. We also reserve dollars for emergency vet bills every year. For many years, our founder and executive director has been our primary source of funding. We have reached a point where our Sanctuary has to become self-sustaining. This giving season, we would so appreciate your support of our work. If you can donate, please do. Please head to muddypugfarm.org and hit the donate button OR text MUDDYPUG to 701701 to be a hero to animals. If you could please share this through your networks, we would be grateful. With so much love from The Muddy Pug https://lnkd.in/gCPsUFPh

We bring people and animals into our farm community to provide sanctuary, healing and hope.
关于我们
We are a volunteer run and volunteer funded 501(c)3 organization based in Western Washington. Our beautiful 5 acre farm is open to care for animals and humans alike who need respite, recovery and reconnecting. The animals in our care come to us from our wonderful network of rescue partners, and we are honored to provide our permanent residents with the food, shelter, love, compassion and medical care they need for the rest of their lives with us.

Friends, for many, thanksgiving is a wonderful time to celebrate good food, our connections to others, and to celebrate life with gratitude. And, it is also true that today may be a tough day for you. If you are struggling to keep it together today, we see you. If you are dreading specific people and situations that might arise, we see you. If you are hurting, mourning or sad, we see you. If you are unsheltered or without food security, we see you. Friends with abundance, know that you get more by sharing what you have with those that have less. Be kind to each other today and always, friends. With so much love from The Muddy Pug

Friends, The Muddy Pug needs you! We have room in our volunteer program for evening tuck in assistance, where you can care for and love on our residents for an hour every week, as we put the Sanctuary to bed. This is also a great opportunity for young people ages 16 or older to get needed volunteer hours for graduation. We are also opening a Sanctuary Saturday on December 14th to tidy up the Sanctuary, especially our fencing around the perimeter. We’ll work from 10 am to 2 pm to ensure you can still sleep in and then get on to any holiday festivities you might have. DM us or click on the link below. See you on The Sanctuary! https://lnkd.in/gmztUm9D

Thank you so much to everyone who reached out to check in on us following a significant wind storm this week. Winds around the sanctuary reached gusts of up to 70 miles an hour. But thankfully, all of our structures are intact, everyone is happy, and while we are without power, we have a generator to keep the sanctuary running. We are expected to remain without power for the next 5 to 7 days, we have worked very hard to ensure that our operations and our care of the residents don’t miss a beat. We are well stocked, prepared, and appreciate everyone’s support! We would so appreciate your financial support as we dip into our supplies reserves to manage through the next few days. You can be a hero to our residents by texting MUDDYPUG to 801801. Thank you!

After the loss of Yumi, her daughter, Keiko, has been adrift at times in the back pasture herd. But within the last few days, we have seen her really connect with Sid. Every morning they stand by each other, nuzzle each other, breakfast together. It is a testament that even in times of deep loss and transition, we can get through it #together. This is why we Sanctuary. Your support makes our work possible. To help wonderful souls like Keiko and Sid, text MUDDYPUG to 801801. With so much love from The Muddy Pug

Friends, hug your loved ones close always. We had a terrible scare this Saturday. Our neighbors let us know they found a sweet tabby that had passed away at the bottom of our road. Our farm sitter was kind enough to check in and confirm if this poor soul was Jason or Mrs. Vorhees. This sweet kitty looked exactly like Jason. And we were devastated. Our wonderful Sanctuary coordinator, Amber, and I poured over pictures of Jason but we could not definitively confirm it was Jason. A kind neighbor with a chip scanner offered to scan the kitty, as Jason and Mrs. V are microchipped. She scanned every which way but could not locate a chip. Which meant that this was not Jason. He came strolling up demanding to be worshipped an hour later. As all involved can attest, it was a terrible and emotional few hours. I can get my head around a resident passing due to old age or illness, but I cried for a solid three hours when I thought we had lost Jason. The sweet kitty who passed away was never claimed, and we laid him to rest on the Sanctuary yesterday. Travel well little one, and we’ll see you on the other side. Don’t leave anything unsaid, don’t leave anyone unhugged friends. With so much love from The Muddy Pug

Yesterday, we got to visit some of our favorite Sanctuary peeps at Magical Creatures Sanctuary on the Big Island of Hawaii. This team is doing amazing work in a place where Sanctuary work is especially difficult. Animals are thrown away more frequently here. Wild pigs run … well, wild. Feed and supplies costs are astronomical and skilled vet care is hard to come by. But even with those challenges, this team takes outstanding care of their over 90 residents. We love seeing inspiring colleagues in the Sanctuary community doing great work. Hugs to all of you and especially my girl, Menina!

Friends, we make all sort of decisions on the Sanctuary. But no decision is more important than how to compassionately help a resident make a peaceful transition over the ?? bridge. With Yumi’s passing, we received a truly thoughtful question about how we decide when it’s time. We have a clear framework and guidelines that we use to ensure we come to the best decision we can in these difficult situations. And our birth star is always the quality of life of the resident. Even in the darkest of times, this is why we Sanctuary. Thank you for supporting our work. With so much love from the Muddy Pug. https://lnkd.in/d-U86dx9
Ask Jen- How do you decide to help a resident transition over the ?? bridge?
