?? Tomorrow is a very special day! After 25 years of Miami Fellows, it’s time to celebrate and brainstorm on what the future of Miami’s leadership looks like. ?? Not only will we have the Miami Fellows summit during the day, we’ll also be bringing together changemakers from 25 leadership programs across Greater Miami at our cocktail reception. ?? The Miami Foundation identifies local leaders who embody the leadership qualities tied to the Ruth Shack Leadership award. These qualities include a passion for Greater Miami, steadfast ethics, selfless service, and a belief in the value of connecting our diverse community. ?? At the event, we’ll be honoring our Ruth Shack Leadership Winner, Annie Lord. We can’t wait to see so many of Miami’s changemakers there!

As Florida braces for Hurricane Milton, we are keeping everyone in its path in our thoughts. While not in the direct forecasted path, Miami-Dade residents should prepare for heavy rains and the potential for localized flooding as the storm approaches. Through the Miami Disaster Resilience Fund, we stand ready to help our friends and family around the state recover from what will likely be a catastrophic storm. Some local organizations that mobilize to provide relief throughout the state include: Global Empowerment Mission, The Smile Trust Inc. ?? This week at TMF… ??Ready. SET. Go! We hosted our final Give Miami Day SET. session with Radical Partners to help nonprofits prepare their fundraising campaigns for Give Miami Day. We are so glad we could spend time connecting with 79 organizational participants! ?? Miami Fellows alumnus Jose Felix Diaz spoke on camera about his collaboration with fellow alumna Melanie Damian. They helped pass legislation to open the SEED school, which is a college-preparatory, tuition-free boarding school for South Florida students. ? We spent time with three Arts Access Momentum Grantees from Vocal Youth Miami, Teeny Violini, and Evolutionary Arts. We’ve entered the final year of this grant and are now discussing the impact this investment has made on them and their organizations. ?? Press Forward South Florida partners supported the Coconut Grove Spotlight at their launch party. #localjournalismmatters ?? We're thrilled to congratulate two businesses on their collective purchase of a medical office suite in North Miami Beach through our Miami Open for Business CREO program! GLOBAL SPEECH AND REHAB SERVICES, LLC and INTERACTIVE THERAPY SOLUTIONS INC will continue to offer their youth speech and occupational therapy services through a new 2500 sq ft. facility. ?? A group of Miami Fellow alumni– Mina Hossieni, Ryan Pontier, and Nikisha Williams (our VP of Collective Impact), gathered at a P.S. 305 event called “Public Schools: Confronting Crises and Shaping Solutions.” The event discussed the future of education within M-DCPS. ?? We hosted local Donor Advised Fund (DAF) providers to go over their involvement in Give Miami Day!

?? From shaping Miami’s leadership, to discussing its greatest needs and steps forward, we can’t wait to connect with our Miami Fellows in person. On October 17th, we’ll be doing just that! An unimaginable disaster has happened in the southeastern region of the U.S. When disaster strikes our neighbors, our hearts feel the pain in Miami. Our community stands in support of all impacted by Hurricane Helene. Our collaborative disaster resilience fund is grateful to be able to send support to our neighbors. Thank you to Citadel, Miami HEAT, Coral Gables Community Foundation, Key Biscayne Community Foundation and so many others for standing together to ensure that our community has a proactive fund for moments like this.
