Helping to navigate the mental health education landscape with information, collaboration, and innovation.
关于我们
Prevention, when possible, reduces stress on emergency response systems and helps save lives. This is the same for mental health, and education is the key. Mental health literacy (MHL)- a part of health literacy - has historically been missing. MHL is evidence-based, universal education. It is a public health approach and proactive solution to the current mental health crisis. The mental health education landscape is complex. This is a system issue. The MHLC helps implementation professionals (people and organizations) navigate the system and empower school and community leaders with through our three core initiatives: * MHL Advocacy & Education * Content ID, Research & Development * Policy Guidance Our mission is to make the education framework of mental health literacy foundational in schools and communities. Everyone deserves to understand mental health just like they understand other aspects of health. We help implementation leaders ensure schools and communities have access to MHL through education, collaboration, and innovation.

Part of #mentalhealthliteracy (MHL) is learning how to seek help effectively. This graphic from Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) helps clarify 988 and 911. Take a moment to distinguish these two critical resources for you and your community. #seekinghelp #communityhealth #mentalhealth #crisis
Both 988 and 911 provide critical support but focus on different crisis types: the #988Lifeline specializes in #mentalhealth, suicide, and problematic substance use support, while 911 addresses physical dangers needing police, fire, or EMS.

?? Check out this Psychology Today piece from Dr. Ilan Kelman on the power of collaboration between youth and "seasoned" mental health advocates. ?? Kelman stresses that youth can lead the way in advocating for mental health improvements, learning from experienced advocates while also bringing fresh perspectives. ?? Kelman also mentions that advocacy should include age-appropriate training and creative outlets for sharing experiences. ?? Collaboration across generations and cultures is key to reaching diverse communities and promoting mental health for all. The Mental Health Literacy Collaborative team agrees with Kelman's sentiments, and we already have an example of this kind of collaboration! ?? Last fall, we launched our MHL Young Adult Advocacy Council. To meet the members, visit: https://lnkd.in/eKFAK6a4 Led by a team of MHLC advisors and supported by the cofounders of the MHLC, the Council is developing youth-focused advocacy materials for young people across the U.S. (and the globe) to help bring #mentalhealthliteracy education into their schools and communities. We look forward to sharing with you the finished product later this spring! ?? ?? #collaboration #advocacy #mentalhealth #youthmentalhealth
